1-10-20: OREGON STATE FORESTER SAYS DEPARTMENT NEEDS MORE MONEY

OREGON’S STATE FORESTER SAYS THE DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY NEEDS MORE THAN A HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE LEGISLATURE WHEN IT CONVENES IN FEBRUARY. STATE FORESTER PETER DAUGHERTY TELLS THE BOARD OF FORESTRY THE CLOCK IS TICKING, AS HIS AGENCY HAS ALREADY SPENT 80 PERCENT OF ITS BUDGET. DAUGHERTY ADDS THAT AN OUTSIDE FIRM IS WORKING TO HELP FORESTRY COLLECT ON MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF UNPAID INVOICES FROM PAST WILDFIRE SEASONS.
