1-13-20: “CAP AND TRADE” TO RETURN IN SHORT SESSION OF STATE LEGISLATURE

A DIFFERENT VERSION OF A BILL THAT CAUSED OREGON SENATE REPUBLICANS TO WALK OUT ON LAST YEAR’S LEGISLATIVE SESSION WILL BE BACK IN FEBRUARY. HOUSE BILL 2020 WAS A CAP AND INVEST BILL THAT WAS ADAMANTLY OPPOSED BY TIMBER AND AGRICULTURAL INTERESTS. STATE SENATOR BETSY JOHNSON SAYS THE CONCEPT SHE HAS SEEN WOULD FOCUS ON THE PORTLAND METRO AREA FOR NOW. SENATOR JOHNSON SAYS EVEN THOUGH SOME CONCESSIONS HAVE BEEN MADE, THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF PEOPLE OPPOSED TO THE CONCEPT.
