Bill’s Guests: Thursday, April 25, 2019

6:35  Dr. Merrill Matthews, resident scholar at the institute for Policy Innovation, IPI.org, and we’re discussing “Lessons for Democrats from the Social Security Trustees’ Report” and how the S.S. program is really doing.

Dr. Matthews writes: “Several of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates will propose increasing the Social Security benefit for current retirees.

They’ll suggest paying for it by increasing the Social Security payroll tax and eliminating the current cap on income ($132,900) that’s affected by the tax.

Those candidates need to take a long, hard look at the latest annual report from the Social Security trustees. There are lessons in that report, if only Democrats will learn them.

  • Lesson 1: A strong, private sector economy improves the Social Security trust funds.
  • Lesson 2: Social Security is still headed for bankruptcy.
  • Lesson 3: The financial challenges will only worsen.

Democrats will say they can solve the problem by raising taxes. But the trustees claim that increase would have to be 2.78 percent of payroll. And that’s just to keep the status quo. Democrats want to increase current benefits—by 2 percent in one proposal.

And the population continues to age, which means that fewer workers will be available to support each retiree.

Even as most private sector companies have transitioned their pension plans to 401(k) accounts to improve their financial stability and avoid long-term liabilities, Democrats want to move in the opposite direction.

The best lesson Democrats could learn from the trustees’ report is that all the tweaking of Social Security’s taxes and benefits over 80 years have only made the financial challenges worse. Time to follow the private sector’s 401(k) approach and solve the problem for good.

7:10 Dr. Alex Hershaft is the President of Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) and a co-founder of both FARM and the U.S. movement for animal rights as a whole.

As a young child held in captivity by the Nazis in Poland’s Warsaw Ghetto, Alex Hershaft witnessed first-hand dozens of brutal beatings, senseless shootings and people dropping dead of typhus and hunger in the streets. After years in hiding to avoid being shipped to the Nazi death camps, young Alex was finally smuggled out of the ghetto and survived the Holocaust…but most of his family did not. He learned years later that his father died following internment in a German slave labor camp. “My experience was very similar to ‘The Pianist’ (the book and Academy Award-winning film about a musician and fellow Holocaust survivor of the Warsaw Ghetto) except that I was younger, and couldn’t play the piano. But it was every bit as awful.”

His life forever shaped by what he experienced as a child, Dr. Hershaft is now one of the godfathers of the worldwide animal rights movement, a co-founder of Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM) and the website www.never-again.org. He sees huge parallels in the Holocaust and animal rights, although he says “animals don’t really have rights…just like we didn’t have rights during the Holocaust. For millions of animals, especially those raised in these huge, cruel industrial farms and slaughterhouses, every day for them is like being in a death camp.”

7:35: Lt. Mike Budreau of the Medford Police Department joins Bill in studio for the Crime Stoppers Case of The Week.

8:10: Dr. Steven Greenleaf, “Steve The Marine,” joins Bill in studio for a chat. Should the Census include a citizenship question?

Steve has penned an essay on the subject.

THE CENSUS AND CITIZENSHIP

Dear Bill Meyer, Senator Golden, Colonel Dotterer, and Professor Bergman,

There is a push on the right to have a census question on citizenship. Liberals complain that this an attack on illegal aliens; that sanctuary jurisdictions will be harmed.  The Liberals are right and normally I would support this, but………

Please read Article I section 2 paragraph 3.  It is clear the purpose of the census is to apportion representation in the House and direct taxes (whatever they are).  For these purposes, citizenship is irrelevant.  What is to be counted are warm bodies.  There is only one exception, Indians not taxed.  There is only one modification, slaves are 3/5 of a warm body.

Let’s be careful.  If the census involves more that the Constitution requires it is dangerous.  The “censors” of the Roman Republic often abused their authority.  There terms were limited.  In the past there have been abuses of the census.  One long form census asked questions about gun ownership.  As we move towards socialized medicine, I can see questions like “Do you smoke?” or, “How tall are you and how much do you weigh?”

Semper fi,

Steve the Marine

Bill’s Guests: Tuesday, April 23, 2019

6:35: Grant Haber, Founder of American Innovations chats with Bill to kick off today’s guest list.

We’ve all watched in horror at Sri Lanka. The increase of IED attacks on religious people and institutions has many wondering when will it happen on a large scale in America?

Grant Haber is one of America’s foremost experts on Homemade Explosives and the resulting IED crisis, which is the leading cause of US Military Casualties in Afghanistan and Iraq. Haber has spent his life in the field of Anti-Terrorism, creating innovations that help save lives and limbs, and also prevents traumatic brain injuries which fuel veteran suicides.  Haber created the first security checkpoint in the United States with explosives detection portals in 2000, the first test method for bomb resistant trash cans, policies to protect sensitive but unclassified information that can be used against us by terrorists, and much more.  Haber is the Founder of American Innovationswhich specializes in proactive Anti-Terrorism solutions to effectively combat terrorist’s weapon of choice; IEDs.  Haber’s innovations and  training classes are used by military,  non-EOD personnel, civilian bomb technicians, and Police worldwide.

7:10: Dave Ray, Communications Director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform chats with Bill.

We’ll be talking with Dave about the apparent, roving group of vigilantes patrolling the U.S./Mexico border, and holding illegal migrants before handing them over to Border Patrol agents. Is this a good thing? We’ll discuss it.

“The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) understands how frustrated Americans are with the chaos at the border, particularly citizens who live near it. That said, FAIR has always been and remains opposed to vigilante action along the border or in the interior of the country. Law enforcement is the responsibility of trained and constitutionally empowered law enforcement agencies like the Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).”

“No one should take the law into their own hands. Both the Border Patrol and ICE have stated publicly that they appreciate tips and information from the public, which can be a valuable force multiplier for reporting illegal entries or suspicious actions. However, taking action must be left in the hands of law enforcement professionals.”

“FAIR continues to call for immediate congressional action to address our nation’s border crisis that will provide our immigration enforcement agencies with the ability to do their jobs effectively, and to protect the safety of our citizens and the security of the nation.”

7:35: Wayne Standilford, a resident filing an ethics complaint against Governor Kate Brown and other politicians talks with Bill.

ETHICS COMPLAINT FILED AGAINST GOVERNOR BROWN

AND OTHERS IN VIOLATION OF the OREGON CONSTITUTION

Article ll Section 22 of the Oregon Constitution states that any candidate who accepts over 10% of their total campaign contributions from out of district or out of state shall forfeit their office.

Evidence provided by the Secretary of State clearly shows that Governor Brown has accepted at least 5 million dollars over that amount stipulated by law. This law was passed by ballot initiative in 1994 by the people of Oregon as measure 6 and was subsequently entered into the Oregon Constitution as Article ll Section 22, where it resides as certified by the Secretary of State in November of 2018.

In a study conducted on other elected officials it was also readily apparent that they too have accepted contributions over the 10% limit and thus have violated their oath of office to support the Oregon Constitution.

Several citizens of Oregon are now challenging why the state of Oregon has ignored and not enforced this law that is the will of the people. Complaints have been filed with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission and it is incumbent upon that commission to investigate why this law has been ignored and to allow a hearing on this blatant violation.

The voice of Oregonians is constantly being negated by outside influence in the form of hefty out of district and out of state campaign contributions. It is past time for the Constitution to be supported and defended by elected officials and the people of Oregon.

Unless it can be proven otherwise those who have violated this article must immediately forfeit their office as per our law in the Oregon Constitution.

8:10: Richard and Mary Ann Hartshsom join Bill live in studio. We’ll be talking with Richard and Mary Ann about their concerns about who is really at fault for the Gap Fire that raged through the Seiad Valley in Siskiyou County in 2016.

Bill’s Guests: Monday, April 22, 2019

6:35: Dr. Jay Lehr, Sr. Policy Analyst with the International Climate Science Coalition chats with Bill to kick off today’s guests.

This year’s Earth Day is focused on species extinction, which, at first glance, appears like a good change after so many years of focusing on the bogus issue of man-made climate change. However, drilling a bit deeper, we find that Earth Day 2019 lists climate change as the first cause of this supposed problem! In particular, as you can see at EarthDay.org. They say…

“The unprecedented global destruction and rapid reduction of plant and wildlife populations are directly linked to causes driven by human activity: climate change, deforestation, habitat loss, trafficking and poaching, unsustainable agriculture, pollution and pesticides to name a few. The impacts are far reaching.”

Dr. Lehr and Tom Harris counter this argument in this article:

The Myth of Extraordinary Species Extinction Due to Man-Made Global Warming

7:10: Greg Roberts, Mr. Outdoors from RogueWeather.com, calls in to bring you the Monday, Water World Boat & Powersport, Outdoor Report.

7:35: Kimberly Larsen, a candidate for the Eagle Point School Board, Position 1, joins Bill live in studio.
