7:35 Michael Torguson, poli-sci teacher at Rogue Community College and we discuss the push for Oregon to join the states going with ranked choice voting. What would this mean? \

8:10 Dr. Dennis Powers, retired professor of business law at SOU with today’s “Where Past Meets Present”.

The Circle of Teran
by Dennis Powers

In 2003, hand surgeon, Scott Young, and his wife, Robin James, finished building their home after seven years on a 1,100 acre Ashland property on Butler Creek Road that they named the “Circle of Teran”. Robin is the Raymond James investment/financial company’s founder’s daughter, and also writes spiritual books as “Sulara Young.” In “Messages from Mathias,” she channels the wisdom of one of her guides, Mathias. Her husband, Dr. Young, was the head of plastic surgery at different Canadian hospitals–and is known to be a shaman. When in Ashland, he also was a plastic surgeon.

With sweeping Rogue Valley views, their 11,000-square-foot residence has 11 bedrooms (most with private baths and balconies); a commercial-grade kitchen; a great 10-sided, double-story room with a marble fireplace, interior balcony and giant stained-glass skylights; and a glass-tropical conservatory where bananas and mangos grow. Other features include ponds, a 5,000-square-foot barn, a 200-foot-wide lavender maze (that takes 30 minutes to walk through), with windmill-and solar-generated power.

The property was named after a son, Teran, who died at childbirth–and took on spiritual dimensions. The two owners operated it as a spiritual retreat and follow the religious Shamanism of the Mexican Huichol Indians.

An ongoing debate ensued between the Youngs and Jackson County over the Circle of Teran’s status as a church. State land-use laws prohibit new church construction on land zoned for exclusive farm use. In 2009, the state Land Use Board of Appeals determined that since golf courses and parks are allowed there, religious entities were to be treated the same as secular ones—and allowed a church to be used there. However, this was still legally problematic with neighbor objections and more zoning issues.

After years of unsuccessful listings with a series of real estate agents, they decided to auction the property (with construction estimates later between $15 – $20 million dollars). The high bidder at the July 1, 2014 auction made a $1.525 million bid for the hillside estate. And who was this? Ashland hotelier, Doug Neuman. While at the Medford airport, he had placed the winning bid over the phone and–to his surprise–won.

Doug and Becky Neuman own the Neuman Hotel Group, which includes numerous local properties, including the Ashland Springs Hotel. By then, the Youngs had moved to Kihei, Hawaii, where Scott Young opened a new practice as Dr. “Genesis” Young and his wife, as a massage therapist. They continue their spiritual practices.

Although the former owners did not eat meat, drink alcohol, or wear their shoes inside, they gave the Neumans their blessings to do whatever they wanted. The Neumans transferred the house to a group that created the Circle of Trust, a high-end drug and alcohol addiction recovery center. The house and portions of the land were placed on the market for $8.2 million, and with lower asking prices for several years, the Circle of Trust transferred ownership to Norma Nakai Burton; Norma had “apprenticed” with shamans in Mexico (Huichol), Brazil, Japan, and Native Americans. Using this as a spiritual center (speakers, retreats, etc., she put the property on the market in 2018 with an asking price of $4.9 million dollars. Another spiritual, but different entity, TwinRay Illuminations, purchased the property in late 2020 for $2.6 million dollars—and is still the owner at this time. (This story will be told in a second part.)

“The Circle of Teran features a great room with marble fireplace, interior balcony and stained-glass skylights.”

America’s population will dwindle as millennials and gen z will not increase birth rates

Simone and Malcolm Collins say we are facing a population crisis-read their article at the NY Post here:

Malcolm Collins and Simone Collins, authors of The Pragmatist’s Guide to Crafting Religion, are the elite intellectual leaders of the pro-natalist movement, which encourages the bearing of children and support of a higher birthrate to save Western Civilization.

We live in a world that is quickly secularizing. How do we fortify our society against the erosion and assault on our traditions?

In The Pragmatist’s Guide to Crafting Religion, Malcolm and Simone Collins focus both on how we can fortify traditions against decay and how we can build new traditions out of whole cloth.

The Collins’ warn of the catastrophic effects a demographic collapse will have on society and assert that people are dramatically underestimate how quickly birth rates are falling and how widespread the phenomenon is.

The Pragmatist’s Guide to Crafting Religion studies the origins of ‘wokeism’ through the lens of of viral memetics — how this dangerous and polarizing mind virus has spread with the invention of social media and the internet era.

“The human brain evolved in conditions with much lower population levels and did not develop the memetic immune system needed to deal with the internet era.”

Malcom and Simone Collins study this phenomenon and provide solutions to fortify our minds and society from the ills of wokeism.

Bad governance likewise stands behind many of society’s ills (from today’s political polarization to mass deaths caused by the Great Leap Forward).

The Pragmatist’s Guide to Crafting Religion is the fourth installment of The Pragmatist’s Guide book series, all of which have been written as the work of a non-profit institution dedicated to helping people think through the big questions in life without leading them to a specific answer.  6:35 Dr. Jane Orient MD, Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons www.aapsonline.org

Damar Hamlin Goes to a Game; Is Everything Fine Now?

Jane M. Orient, M.D.

We are all grateful that Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin survived his encounters with sudden death (two encounters—his heart stopped twice). He has expressed gratitude for the thousands who prayed for him, and he was delighted to be able to attend a Buffalo Bills-Bengals playoff game just 20 days after his collapse.

But will he be on the playing field again? He appears to have escaped serious permanent injury, but what will his cardiologist say about the risk of a recurrence?

Some were quick to diagnose commotio cordis from the impact to his chest when he tackled another player, but others dismissed the possibility. It might be rare, even unprecedented in football, but one can’t prove it to be impossible

So, what to do now?

First, we should recognize that sudden death is not a new phenomenon. The unexpected sudden death that affects an apparently healthy individual is a nightmarish threat that has accompanied mankind throughout history. The first recorded instance may have occurred in ancient Egypt between 2625-2475 B.C. Hippocrates, who lived in the 4th century B.C., gave a general description of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in his Aphorisms II,41. Scientific understanding of SCD began in the 19th century when British physiologist John A MacWilliam first proposed a rational electrophysiological hypothesis as the most likely explanation.

Leading cardiology experts consider SCD to be “one of the most challenging tasks in Cardiology.” This calamity is not as rare as the conventional wisdom would like us to believe. It is estimated that it may account for 15-20 percent of deaths in western countries and is a cause of the majority of deaths due to cardiovascular factors. The risk is higher in competitive athletes (about 1 in 7,000), but the absolute number of cases is higher in recreational sports. No contact is required.

Because of its importance and frequency, one might assume that research into causes and prevention would be very well funded. But for every year of healthy life lost, the National Institutes of Health invests only $7 in research on SCD, versus $284 for diabetes, $89 for stroke, and $53 for ischemic heart disease. And things are getting worse: allocations from NIH to research cardiac arrest have decreased from $35.4 million to $28.5 million during the past decade. The $40 million spent in 2015 out of the NIH’s $21.2 billion budget amounted to less than 0.2 percent.

Among the many reasons for neglecting the funding was the public’s surprising lack of awareness about the importance of cardiac arrests.

Cases like Hamlin’s, however, may be the stimulus for very important research. It is not only that the spectacular collapse of an NFL star or other celebrity attracts a lot of sensational media coverage. It’s not just the individual tragedies. The actual number of cases is increasing at such a disturbing rate that the public is finally noticing it.

A surge of adrenalin with extraordinary exertion may trigger the fatal rhythm disorder. A surge of hormones just before awakening might explain how young people die in their beds. But what makes the heart’s electrical system more irritable?

The current spike in reports of SCD just happens to coincide with push to get everybody injected with COVID-19 vaccines. Although your vaccination status must be made known to ticket takers at a concert, it seems to be too sensitive to include in news reports on SCD.

What can impair your heart’s electrical system? The differential diagnosis includes trauma, a congenital (birth) defect, infection, inflammation, autoimmune damage, toxic effect, and drug effect. Damage from the spike protein that COVID injections cause your body to make, and/or the immune response to it, is a plausible mechanism. How to demonstrate it? Patients who die should have an autopsy, with tissue preserved for tests, such as histopathological staining or chemical analysis for toxins, that may become available later. An autopsy should be standard in all unexpected deaths, but is rarely done for financial reasons. This should be a priority for SCD research funding.

With today’s electronic health records, it should be possible to collate massive data on exposures. Americans are ingesting enormous amounts of drugs, both illegal and prescription. They also receive an unprecedented number of vaccines. The COVID products are so different that some say they should not be called vaccines. However, all vaccines affect the immune system, by design. Immunology is extremely complex, varies greatly in individuals, and is not well understood.

Instead of speculating about climate change, gas stoves, minuscule increases in dust particles (PM2.5s) in the air, 5G, plastic bottles, etc., let’s try to find an answer to an age-old but dramatically increasing problem.

Damar Hamlin was saved by immediate, excellent medical care, and an automatic external defibrillator. These are not available to most patients who have SCD. We need to prevent the occurrence, but first we need to know the cause.

8:10 Guest: Dr. Richard Gallagher, author of  Demonic Foes: My Twenty-Five Years as a Psychiatrist Investigating Possessions, Diabolic Attacks, and the

Board Certified Psychiatrist and Professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical, Psychoanalyst at Columbia University, and Author Dr. Richard Gallagher

Successful New York psychiatrist Richard Gallagher was skeptical yet intrigued when a hard-nosed, no-nonsense Catholic priest asked him to examine a woman for a possible exorcism. Meeting her, Gallagher was astonished. The woman’s behavior defied logic. In an instant, she could pinpoint a person’s secret weaknesses. She knew how individuals she’d never known had died, including Gallagher’s own mother, who passed away after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer. She spoke fluently in multiple languages, including Latin—but only when she was in a trance.

This was not psychosis, Gallagher concluded. It was, in his scientific estimation, what could only be described as paranormal ability. The woman wasn’t mentally disturbed—she was possessed. This remarkable case was the first of many that Gallagher would encounter. Sought after today by leaders of all faiths—ministers, priests, rabbis, and imams, Gallagher has spent a quarter-century studying demonic activity and exorcisms throughout history and has witnessed more cases than any other psychiatrist in the world today.

In this eerie and enthralling book, Gallagher chronicles his most famous cases for the first time, including:

  • A professional who claimed her spiritualist mother had “assigned” her a spirit who “turned on her.”
  • A petite woman—”90 pounds soaking wet”—who threw a 200-pound Lutheran deacon across the room to the horror of onlookers in a church hall;
  • And “Julia,” the so-called Satanic queen and self-described witch, who exhibited “the most harrowing” case, a “once-in-a-century” possession.
  • Going beyond horror movies and novels, Demonic Foes takes you deep into this hidden world, sharing in full detailthese true-life tales of demonic possession.

7:10  Jeremy Slayden, founder of  Warrior MBS – A Pro-Patriot, Pro-Masculine, Pro-Christian group
www.warriormbs.com

(From Jeremy’s Op-Ed)

It’s time for every American to understand what’s really going on here. This stopped being a Democrat or Republican fight a long time ago. This is simply good and evil.

I’ve investigated what is truly behind the global elite’s promotion of beta male behavior,
victimhood, sexual confusion, and dependence on the state. “Why are the largest food, drug and clothing companies in the world manufacturing and promoting products known to cause lower sperm counts and reduce testosterone, while receiving stamps of approval from the FDA and other government agencies?”

The easy historical answer is that totalitarian takeovers can only succeed if the male population has been gelded, emasculated, and disenfranchised. This removes the head of the nuclear family, and by removing this natural bulwark against tyranny, elites will centralize power and pursue their collectivist tyranny unopposed” Slayden concludes.

But does it go deeper than that? Is this more than just a political power grab?

In a word, YES. There are hidden spiritual roots to all the gender bending that is promoted and even chemically forced worldwide right now. Do you believe that the sudden effort in promoting Transgenderism from institutions as large and disparate as the WEF, the UN, Disney, many mainline Christian denominations, and so many others are by mere coincidence? Is it by chance?

Is it by chance that the largest medical conglomerates in the world are armed and ready to permanently mutilate gender confused children, with the full support of governmental authorities who will? remove custody from non-cooperative parents? No, this is not by accident.

The climate alarmists and elites say that you need to get rid of your gas car, your cheap and plentiful sources of energy, and your gas stove in the name of climate. Naturally, when they all met up at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Davos to discuss what YOU need to do for the sake of the climate agenda they all took private jets.

During the conference over 150 private jets -which are 10 times more carbon-intensive than commercial planes- flew into Davos, Switzerland. While the average person has an annual carbon footprint of around 4 tons, many of these private jets output upwards of 40+ metric tons of carbon for the trip.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently said, “every transportation decision in the 21st century is a climate decision.” It seems that those pushing the climate narrative didn’t get that memo, or if they did, they don’t think it’s meant to apply to themselves.

We thought we knew everything about the shootings of Jacob Blake and the killings of Kyle Rittenhouse. We don’t. This is what really happened.

Featuring: former U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr, Columbia University professor John McWhorter, former Daily Caller journalist Richie McGinniss, and Rundown Live host Kristan Harris.

During the summer of 2020, with COVID lockdowns and Black Lives Matter hysteria still ravaging the country, Kenosha, Wisconsin was ground zero for two separate mega-viral incidents. The national media descended, squeezed these twin tragedies for clicks and ratings, and then moved on.

We went back to Kenosha to expose the standard media narrative for what it is: mostly lies. And we found the truth, the real catastrophe connecting Blake and Rittenhouse that never made national headlines.

Bill says these people are Addicted to Fire

When these people use the term ‘treatment’ they mean, prescribed burns, aka; ‘eco-cultural fire’, ‘cultural fire’, ‘controlled burns’

Looking at the document at the USDA website describing their wildfire ‘strategy’ document … we find they want to burn about 50-million acres, almost annually.

“The Forest Service announced their original 10 landscape project areas last year as part of the agency’s broader strategy to protect communities, critical infrastructure and forest resources from catastrophic wildfire. Combined with these initial landscape investments, the additional efforts being announced today represent a total USDA investment of $930 million across 45 million acres”

“The 10-year strategy calls for treating up to 20 million acres on national forests and grasslands and up to 30 million acres on other federal, state, Tribal, private and family lands to assure our forests are more resilient to wildfire and other effects of climate change, safer for communities, and remain key refuges for plants, fish and wildlife.”

VIDEO: Nevada High School Girl Relentlessly Punches Female Classmate

EXCLUSIVE: A wild brawl erupted in a classroom this morning as students were about to being a final exam at Nathan Hale High School in West Allis

For years, patriarchy has been blamed for all manner of social ills, including global warming and domestic violence. But according to the Centers for Disease Control, men are more likely to be victims of partner abuse than women.

Each year, according to the CDC, 6.4 million men, compared to only 5.6 million women, are victims of domestic violence. In lesbian relationships, the rate of female victimization is much higher.

And alarming numbers of media accounts suggest that overall, female-perpetrated violence is on the rise. Like the eight teenage girls who recently swarmed a defenseless man and stabbed him to death.

Activists have long attacked the patriarchy and sought to replace it with a matriarchy — the argument being that our male dominated society excludes women and in the name of ‘equality’ men must submit to women, etc.

Has this benefited society?

Men have increasingly abandoned their roles as fathers, husbands, parents, and heads of households. Are their children or the mothers benefitting from this? Of course not. Children raised in homes without fathers are the most likely to engage in violent behavior, go to prison, or turn to substance abuse.

Something is out of balance. Examples of female perpetrated violence seem to be on the rise. Is the matriarchy to blame? And of the patriarchy and matriarchy, which should be the greatest concern?

7:35 Larry Correia, author of “In Defense of the Second Amendment”

the Supreme Court rejected New York gun retailers’ bid to block new gun restrictions, which they argued violate their Second Amendment rights and hurt their businesses. Larry Correia, gun expert, firearms instructor, and author of In Defense of the Second Amendment agrees that this action infringes upon 2A rights. In contradiction, NY Attorney General James praised this decision, saying that the “gun safety laws help save lives, and keep our state safer.” However, Americans know the truth: that most gun restrictive cities in America also produce the most crime and leave our citizens unprotected.

Larry’s  book In Defense of the Second Amendment dives deep into every major gun control argument such as red-flag laws, gun-free zones, gun/criminal reform and more. He would be a great expert to speak on this new Supreme Court decision.

Along with New York, other states are following suit and doubling down on gun control, Illinois Gov Pritzker pushed gun restriction laws, as well as New Jersey, and just today- New Mexico. Protecting Americans’ second amendment rights is a timely conversation now more than ever.

“Where Past Meets Present”

UFOs

By Dennis Powers

Dating back for centuries, UFOs are a controversial subject. In the Bible’s Book of Ezekiel, a mysterious ship is described as appearing from the sky in Chaldea (modern-day Kuwait). Sightings continue with ancient Rome, China, Germany, and even England.

Coined by the US Air Force in 1953, an “unidentified flying object” is an unusual anomaly in the sky not readily identifiable to the observer as a known object. It is often associated with extraterrestrial life, government-related conspiracy theories, and flying saucers.

The phrase “flying saucer” gained national attention in 1947 when a commercial pilot reported seeing nine objects flying in formation near Mount Rainer. The pilot timed the sighting and estimated the speed of the discs to be over 1,000 mph. He described their movement to be like “a saucer skipped across water,” leading to newspaper accounts of “flying saucers”.

The majority of UFO sightings by independent study are proven to be misidentified natural occurrences, usually sights of aircraft, experimental planes, balloons, clouds, and even meteors or bright planets. A small amount of straightforward hoaxeswhere people stage what seems to be a flying saucerare just that; some are so outlandish as to look like they were taken from a 1950’s “B” Sci-Fi flick.

Roswell Army Air Field in New Mexico in 1947 is the site of the most famous incident. A public information officer released a statement that personnel had retrieved a crashed “flying disk” from a ranch near Roswell, sparking intense media interest. The following day, the Commanding General of the Eighth Air Force stated that thisin facthad been a high-altitude radar-tracking balloon that crashed. This set the stage for countless books, articles, and movies about aliens, huge spacecraft, and government conspiracies. These include scenes at various hangers, from Hangers No. 18 (the remnants were allegedly flown to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio), No. 51, No. 84, and so on.

Most independent investigators agree, however, that between 5% and 20% of reported sightings remain unexplained, and therefore can be classified as unidentified in the truest sense. Trained observers, as pilots and the military, have reported incidents that are quite credible, including simultaneous radar tracking with visual accounts. Every state in the Union have had UFO sightings, and Oregon with its low population, ranks a high number 5.

As to our area, the sightings are like any other location (and Google, “UFO Sightings Southern Oregon,” “Northern California,” or with your specific town). Arguing that aliens use Mt. Shasta’s cloud camouflage to hide their spaceships, some consider it to be a UFO landing site (even with Lemurians), including sightings at Mt. Ashland. In the final analysis, who really knows?

PUBLIC NOTICE CHANGE IN JO COUNTY?

Time to change the public notice laws?? Josephine County Commission votes to move their public notices away from the GP Daily Courier to the much smaller Illinois Valley News (weekly) based in Cave Junction. The board says it’s about saving money, and the county is certainly cash-strapped. (Law enforcement, especially) No doubt not wanting to feed a paper that arguably isn’t too fond of the board (feelings are mutual) played a role. Print media finds itself in challenging times like much of legacy media. Not sure the law requiring posting in local newspapers is a sustainable option?

  • There now exists an existential threat to American democracy greater than any our nation has ever faced.
  • Democracy as we know it is being obliterated at the hands of Democrats who pose a deadly threat to our freedom.

and host of The Mysteries of Watergate Podcast. He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Northern California representing the United States in both criminal and civil cases.

We dig into the book’s premise and how the Trump/Biden classified files issues “resonate”.

More about John’s book: Deep Throat’s lawyer discovers the Washington Post betrayed his client—while covering up the real truth about the Watergate scandal.

The conventional wisdom of Watergate is turned on its head by Postgate, revealing that the Post did not uncover Watergate as much as it covered it up. The Nixon Administration, itself involved in a coverup, was the victim of a journalistic smokescreen that prevented mitigation of its criminal guilt. As a result of the paper’s successful misdirection, today’s strikingly deceptive partisan journalism can be laid at the doorstep of the Washington Post.

After Deep Throat’s lawyer, author John O’Connor, discovered that the Post had betrayed his client while covering up the truth about Watergate, his indefatigable research resulted in Postgate, a profoundly shocking tale of journalistic deceit.

In an era when numerous modern media outlets rail about the guilt of their political enemies for speaking untruths, Postgate proves that the media can often credibly be viewed as the party actually guilty of deception. Americans today mistrust the major media more than ever. Postgate will prove that this distrust is richly deserved.

Postgate: How the Washington Post Betrayed Deep Throat, Covered Up Watergate, and Began Today’s Partisan Advocacy Journalism

BIO: John O’Connor is an experienced trial lawyer, practicing law in San Francisco since 1972.  He has tried cases in state and federal court throughout the country. He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Northern California from 1974-1979, representing the United States in both criminal and civil cases. Among his interesting assignments have been representation of the government during the OPEC oil embargo of the 1970s; writing Fifth Amendment and “state of mind” briefs for the prosecution in United States v. Patricia Hearst; representing the FDIC, FSLC and RTC during the savings and loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s; representing California Attorney General Dan Lungren in campaign-related litigation; defending R.J. Reynolds Tobacco in significant smoking and health litigation; representing Coach Don Nelson in litigation with Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban; and representing W. Mark Felt regarding the revelation of his identity as Deep Throat.

The Sumter Gambit: How the Left Is Trying to Foment a Civil War

Robert Spencer, is the director of Jihad Watch and author of The Sumter Gambit: How the Left Is Trying to Foment a Civil War

What is the Sumter Gambit? It’s the concerted effort by the Left to push the most extreme policies and ideologies into American public life, while simultaneously labeling any opposition to their overreach as treason.

While this strategy has been developed for decades, only since the Trump years has it become their central organizing principle and, indeed, the only governing strategy of the Democratic party. Critical Race Theory in schools, extreme gun control and abortion laws, Covid lockdowns and mandates–and all that is just the beginning.

The purpose of it all is to push non-Leftist Americans into an impossible corner–where they are forced to choose between giving up their liberty and their most dearly-held principles; going to jail; or fighting back. When the last becomes the only choice, the Left plans to unleash the entire might of the Military-Industrial Complex to defeat and destroy any vestiges of dissent. They’ll have to do it, they’ll say, to protect us from an “insurrection.”

At that point, we will have the Civil War that they have wanted, and planned for, since at least the 1960s.

The Sumter Gambit is a brisk primer on the primary differences between the two camps in America today, and the ways in which Americans can and must act now to preserve our nation. We must strengthen the country against its internal enemies who want to silence their opposition and impose upon us a radical Leftist ideology that is in the process of transforming America into a land no one would ever dream of calling the Land of the Free or the Home of the Brave.

There is no doubt that America is suffering from grave crises today. Here the noted political analyst, Islam expert, and historian Robert Spencer shows just how severe those crises are–and points the way back from the brink of civil war to political, societal, and cultural sanity.

Now that a Speaker has been elected in the House, Heritage Action for America is urging House conservatives to pursue a bold legislative agenda to tackle the most pressing issues facing the American people. This includes tackling major priorities like securing the southern border, rising inflation, Big Tech censorship, life, and the threat from Communist China. In May 2022, Heritage Action and the Heritage Foundation released what they believe should be the seven strategic policy priorities for conservatives in the near future, which can be found here.

After two years of suffering under the Left’s agenda, the American people want to see their representatives fighting for safety and security, economic opportunity, and accountability. Heritage Action for America is leading the charge to ensure Congress shows the American people what conservative leadership looks like ahead of the 2024 election cycle.

Art Dubs

By Dennis Powers

Art Dubs was born in Phoenix in 1930 and was a lifelong Rogue Valley resident. His main business was first constructing homes that he designed during the post-war boom years of the 1950’s into the 1970’s. As one real estate expert said, “When you saw a ‘Dubs built plaque’ on a home, you knew it had good bones… He was a modern day Frank Clark (the renowned architect).”

He was the original developer of the Bella Vista site on McAndrews Road, east of Foothills Road in east Medford. Dubs fought a long battle with Medford over the extension of McAndrews through the property–but eventually settled and sold the property prior to the real estate market crash in the 1980’s that put the development into bankruptcy.

Dubs’ love of the outdoors brought him into the film industry: His Pacific International Enterprises “PIX” venture created eleven feature films in syndication and in theaters here and abroad. Art’s first film (1970) was American Wilderness which chronicled his big-game hunting in the wilds from Mexico and Oregon to Alaska as he tracked horned sheep and a huge polar bear. Wonder of It All (1974) was a documented journey about wilderness animals across the globe with “rarely seen animal behavior.” Vanishing Wilderness (1974), filmed over 5 years, portrays this country’s “magnificent landscape” and wildlife. As seen, he always brought along his camera on his adventures.

In 1975, he released another favorite, “The Adventures of the Wilderness Family,” about a family who fled the city for the wilderness, needing to learn how to live with nature and family–which had sequels. “The Late Great Planet Earth” was a best-selling 1970 book by Hal Lindsey, featured on Primetime TV specials and made into a 1978 film narrated by Orson Welles; although not involved in the production, PIX released the film. (Note: it compared end-time biblical prophecies with then-current events to predict for believers the “Second Coming of Christ.”)

In 1981, Arthur produced the film Windwalker that was nominated for an Academy Award. The story is about an ancient Indian warrior who had reached the end of life—but is brought back by the Great Spirit to save his family from enemy Indian raiding parties. The film’s dialogue is subtitled in English with only Cheyenne and Crow spoken. Movie critics Siskel and Ebert gave the film an exceptional review with “two thumbs up.”

Filmed in Oregon, Sacred Ground (1983) highlights a mountain man and his Indian wife who live in a cabin built on a Paiute burial site, leading to a violent dispute with the local tribe; it starred Tim McIntyre, L.Q. Jones, and Jack Elam. In Dream Chasers (1984), Art shut down the streets of Jacksonville to film the movie. He received eleven credits overall as the producer, four credits as director, four as writer, and two as editor, numbers of them for the same film. Plus, leading writers, editors, cinematographers, and actors (including Rex Allen, Trevor Howard, Robert Logan, etc.) worked with him on his family-oriented films.

But construction and film producing was not all of Arthur Dubs. In 1960, he felled the world’s largest polar bear, according to the Guinness Book of World Records and Life Magazine. In December 1988, Dubs took down a world-record desert bighorn ram in Arizona’s Aravaipa Canyon Wilderness Area. Purchasing the permit for $47,500 during a Foundation for North America Wild Sheep annual auction, he showed the mounted bighorn the next year with a film about the hunt.

He remains the record holder for the largest Grand Slam of North American bighorn sheep. This rare feat consists of “harvesting” all four wild sheep species (the Dall, Stone, Bighorn, and Desert Sheep). All four species are difficult to hunt and can only be found in rough, rocky terrain.

Also standing out was his philanthropy in Southern Oregon. His gift of $250,000 was instrumental in the development of an Asante cancer care center in 1994 that bears his name, along with helping to fund an intensive care unit for babies. In establishing his Arthur R. Dubs Foundation, he supported the Children’s Advocacy Center of Jackson County, United Way of Jackson County, and Legal Aid of Jackson County.

Leaving a legacy to be remembered, he died in 2013 at the age of 83. In fact, he had a license plate on one of his vehicles that read “maverick”–and he was very successful at that.

6:35 Chris Chmielenski, VP at Numbers USA www.NumbersUSA.org

In one of its first legislative acts, the new House is expected to introduce a bill called the ‘‘Border Safety and Security Act of 2023.’’ The bill is not Title 42, but it would have the same effect and disconnect it from Covid, which Title 42 is based on.

H.R. __ – Border Safety and Security Act

This bill addresses our crisis at the southern border by empowering the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to turn away illegal migrants at the border if the Secretary of DHS does not have operational control.

NumbersUSA favors stronger immigration laws, legislation in support of E-Verify, as well as ending policies like chain migration and the visa lottery. They oppose all efforts to help and/or expand illegal immigration. NumbersUSA grades members of Congress on immigration legislation.

A great talk about the accused Idaho murderer case and  compulsive liar GOP congressman-elect George Santos. Some thoughts from the Dr:

It is clear that George Santos is a pathological liar. The only thing that isn’t clear is how he got away with his compulsive lying for so long. But his luck has finally run out and now everyone knows he’s in big trouble.

Compulsive or pathological lying comes from having low self-esteem and deep insecurities in childhood, sometimes after suffering abuse or neglect. The child believes that he isn’t enough – not smart enough, rich enough, good looking enough, or is of the wrong race or religion to be one of the popular kids, the in-crowd. He keeps trying to find some way of getting the love and attention he craves.

So, he starts with little lies at first, and when he gets away with them, he goes for bigger lies – all the while expecting people to find out and call his bluff. When they don’t, the liar can end up getting elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Santos has lied about his demographics, like his sexuality, race and religion – even going so far as to claim his ancestors fled from the holocaust. He’s lied about despicable things like claiming his mother died on 9/11. He’s lied about his schooling, his finances, and more. Many of these lies were about things that could easily have been discovered – as is finally happening now.

Santos has lied about too many things to keep track of, and he won’t be able to stop, unless he gets intensive psychotherapy and perhaps medication, as well. Otherwise, he needs to resign because neither his Congressional colleagues nor his constituents will be able to trust him.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years.”

New Year’s Resolutions–For 2023

By Dennis Powers

New Year’s resolutions are about self-improvement: Promises to start doing something good or not something bad–starting on New Year’s Day. It can be to improve yourself physically, whether losing weight, drinking less booze, quitting smoking, or exercising more. Thinking positive, enjoying life more, or reducing stress by changing jobs are also examples.

Sounds good–for a typical year–but what about the past years that we have endured with the COVID-19 pandemic: millions of jobs were lost; social isolation and self-quarantining became a mantra; inner cities erupted into violence; hospitals cut back on “normal” surgeries with difficulties in seeing your doctor in person, not to mention vitriolic elections that took place.

The American Medical Association stated what doctors should tell their patients: “Make time for self-care (everyone needs to do better); set smart goals (specific, measurable, achievable); focus on what you can control (i.e., to mask or not); find ways to remain connected; make small changes (slow and steady wins the race); celebrate your wins (no matter how small)”; and ended with “This year is harder for everybody in so many different ways…”

Yes, New Year’s resolutions are about hopefulness. And it’s been that way since recorded times. The celebration of a new year is the oldest of holidays and dates back to ancient Babylon some 4000 years ago. Around 2000 BC, Babylonians celebrated the beginning of their new year on what is now March 23rd, as this was when spring began and crops planted. Their celebration lasted for 11 days, as Babylonians made promises to their gods to return borrowed objects and to pay back debts.

The Romans continued observing the New Year on March 25th, but later emperors changed the calendar so many times that it became out of sync with the sun. To set the calendar right, the Roman senate in 153 BC declared January 1rst to be the beginning of the New Year. It named the first month after their mythical king of early Rome, Janus, the god of beginnings and guardian of entrances. Always shown with two faces on his head–one at the front and the other at the back–Janus could look backwards and forwards at the same time. At midnight on December 31rst, the Romans imagined Janus looking back at the old year and forward to the new.

In Medieval days, knights took a “peacock vow” at the end of the Christmas season each year to re-affirm their commitment to chivalry; they placed their hands on a peacock and vowed to always live up to this pledge. Over centuries, the practice of resolutions and commitment on this eve continued, and it’s interesting to see what has happened in more modern times. At the end of the Great Depression, about 1/4th of adults formed New Year’s resolutions. By now, some 2/3rds did.

Their nature has also changed to reflect the times. At the end of the 19th century, a typical teenage girl’s resolution was on “good approaches”: She resolved to be less self-centered, more helpful, a more diligent worker, and improve her character. By the end of the 20th century, the typical teenage girl was focused on good looks: to improve her body, hairstyle, makeup, and only wear “faddish” clothing. This can also depend on your age-group (Senior Citizens or Generation X), country, or job (blue-collar or white-collar).

Generally, the top resolutions are (including changing your job):

Lose weight.

Eat healthier or change diet.

Get fitter.

Spend more time with family and friends.

Be more aware and take care of mental health.

Sort out finances and cut back spending.

Travel more.

Take up a new hobby, sport or other interest.

As to success rates, a study of 3,000 people indicated that 88% of those who set New Year resolutions fail, despite the fact that 52% were confident of success at the beginning. Men achieved their goal 22% more often when setting small quantitative goals (i.e., losing one pound a week, instead of promising “to lose weight”), while women succeeded 10% more when they made their goals public with support from friends.

Setting a specific goal can be a winner. Monitoring progress, not being too ambitious, recording what you do, and giving time for success are important. Overcoming bad habits, such as drinking too much alcohol, smoking, or overeating, can be tough ones to beat because they’re so easy to return to when stressed out–especially during the New Year. And this can start with your celebrations.

Different resolutions in the Top 6 that resonate are (see Parade.com for 2023): Focus on a Passion, Not the Way You Look; Work out to feel good, not being Thinner; Stop Gossiping; Give one Complement a Day; Go a Whole Day without Checking your Email; Do Random Acts of Kindness—along with Clear out the Clutter; Travel on a Small Budget; Drink more Water; and on. THE TROUBLE WITH “NORMALCY BIAS”

Reading about the tragic deaths of many in the Buffalo and E. Coast storms the other week. Many had no travel preps of any kind, light clothing, Crocs instead of shoes, no blankets, water, nothing. Normalcy bias kills. I see it daily even going to a supermarket. Guy walks in the store in December, light shorts, flip flops, tee shirt, no coat because everything is always okay….until it’s not.

Stella served for a decade as an analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency where she focused on communist media, propaganda, and disinformation.  She has a master’s degree in Russian and Soviet history from the University of Southern California.

This book explains how dictators—from the French Revolution to the Communist Party of China to today’s globalists—aim to atomize us in order to control us. We fall for it because our need to connect with others and our fear of social rejection are so hardwired that they trigger our conformity impulse. These dynamics can even cause us to comply with evil orders.

6:35 Elina Furman, certified infant massage instructor

A severe season of cold and flu is leading to empty pharmacy shelves and thinning supplies of antibiotics in the US and other parts of the world. Parents are struggling to find children’s versions of over-the-counter medicines like Ibuprofen and Tylenol, as well as the antibiotic Amoxicillin. Yet, so many parents are unaware that they have ready access to a natural tool that will boost their child’s health and immunity this flu season: massage

Massage helps build a child’s immunity by strengthening and regulating primary systems (respiratory, circulatory, nervous, musculature, digestive, and endocrine), which in turn helps them fight off illness. Available for an interview on this topic is Elina FurmanCertified Infant Massage Instructor and founder of Kahlmi (the first baby massager that soothes infants and strengthens the baby/parent bond). Elina shares insight on how massage benefits.

She became a certified infant massage therapist and instructor and was inspired to create Kahlmi to help educate and bring awareness to baby and child massage in the US and beyond. Baby massage helps build baby’s brains, increases growth, and improves sleep naturally! It also helps alleviate common baby ailments like teething, constipation, gas, and restlessness. A 2022 JPMA Innovation Awards finalist, Kahlmi is the first soothing and interactive massage and bonding tool tailored to the unique needs of parent/caretaker and child. It helps improve digestion, lessen fussiness, strengthen immunity, promote body awareness, and more.

Get $50 Bucks from the State!

As the year closes you may be wondering, “What do we do now?”

The deep-state has been exposed. We now have factual evidence that the FBI, CIA, HHS, NIH, et. al., were actively lying to the American public. Twitter was nearly a wholly owned subsidiary of the FBI and CIA. The same is true for Facebook, Instagram, Google, Pinterest, SoundCloud, YouTube, etc. and their efforts to censor common-sense, conservative facts and opinions while “protecting” and amplifying their own leftist, progressive, and ultimately totalitarian, voices.

The release of the Twitter Files exposes one of the greatest breaches of our constitutionally codified First Amendment rights. The over-reach and abuse by the federal government for the sole purpose of pushing toward a preferred election outcome is unprecedented. We have played by their rules for far too long because there has always been some perceived carrot that the public was willing to sacrifice.

But, as Franklin stated, “Any people that would give up liberty for a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty, nor safety.”

We face tough odds. We know about the corruption, lies  and deceit.  We know the forces of destructionism are always waiting for an opportunity to exploit a crisis, deny our inalienable rights and rob us of the blessings of our American heritage.

The “big monied” and the politically corrupt will fail as we continue to stand strong and straight on our bedrock principles.

We have the data, the facts, the common-sense, the logic and thousands of years of traditional understanding. We know how math works, how things are built, how financial prudence leads to sound money and stable prices. We understand the real world and how to live prosperous and fulfilling lives. We even know how to define a “woman.”

We will not be defeated!  Stand Firm!

Stand on your principles, use common-sense, reason, and logic. Continue to spread the truth. For, we know our Founders’ ideas for liberty are stronger than the petty machinery of temporary despots.

COMMENT TO CITY OF MEDFORD re THURSDAY’S MEETING

(you can comment, too, publiccomments@cityofmedford.org

Mayor and City Council,

I respectfully demand that the City Council hold off on its decision regarding increasing public safety fees and the hiring of additional employees. This current council is a “Lame Duck” council, with a new council coming in just a few weeks. This hearing is being conducted during the holidays, a time that is least likely to be on the public’s “radar”. One could be forgiven for wondering if not having the people really pay attention to this action is your actual intent. I hope that isn’t the case.

Police and Fire employees are some of the most expensive employees we train, hire, and equip. Not only are taxpayers on the hook for current costs, but also future health, retirement, and pension costs, not necessarily reflected in safety fee increases we pay today. It appears that adding additional Fire employees is desired in order to staff medical teams. In my opinion this is bureaucracy’s natural tendency to grow itself. You’re getting a “Increase in Calls” but it’s not fire, it’s medical.

Why isn’t there a greater focus on Mercy Flights doing the heavy lifting on increased medical calls? News 10 reports on some of this recently with the “New Tiered Emergency Response System takes Flight” story – https://ktvl.com/…/new-emergency-response-call-tiered…#

This is an option which should be expanded. Mercy Flight employees are not PERS employees and are not a permanent future burden on taxpayers. It’s a smarter way to go, and avoids the ridiculous mission creep and costs associated with Medford Fire sending a two or four person crew in a $500,000+ fire truck to take care of a medical call, whether it’s a Greenway overdose issue, or a “Grandma fell out of bed” medical call.

Resist the tendency to do the bidding of the Medford Firefighters Association PAC #1318, even though many councilors accepted campaign funding from this group. Speaking of which, why isn’t this considered a conflict of interest when making this kind of a hiring/public policy vote?

Additionally, a permanent increase in the number of Livability Team police employees is unwise. Not saying they aren’t needed right now, but eventually the Boise decision, which is driving much of our current ridiculous coddling of the “Unhoused”, will be litigated toward a more common-sense approach.

If these lame duck actions by the Council are in response to requirements in a grant stream funding process, the ultimate burden on the taxpayer needs to be considered, as the grants do not take into consideration the public’s opinion or consent. Grant stream funding should not be used as a pathway to social economic change without the consent of the body politic.

Additionally, grant stream funding does not pay for the long-term costs, they’re only a pathway to initial implementation. Best to eliminate acceptance of such grant stream funding used for temporary funding that allows this intrusion between the The People and its government.

‘Stress’ Caused By Harry, Meghan’s Book And Doc ‘Broke’ Queen’s Heart, Media Psychiatrist Claims

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interviews and media projects likely brought “stress” to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in their final days, a psychiatrist has claimed. Following the premiere of the couple’s Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” last week, GB News host Mark Dolan interviewed Dr. Carole Lieberman who said:

“I think that [Meghan] and Harry are responsible to some degree for the deaths of Prince Philip and the Queen because Prince Philip, [though] he was of a certain age and getting in frail health, died a month after the Oprah [Winfrey] interview. And then the Queen died in anticipation of this Netflix documentary and Harry’s book,” Lieberman claimed on GB News’ “Mark Dolan Tonight.” “I think that stress broke their hearts. That stress I think literally led to or at least contributed to their deaths.”

7:10 Elaine Parker, president of Job Creators Network Foundation is on to talk about small business concerns…the impact of 7.1 year over year inflation, too. www.JobCreatorsNetwork.com

65 percent of small business owners say they’re concerned that economic conditions could force them to close their businesses, according to a new Job Creators Network Foundation (JCNF) poll.

“Small business sentiment is souring as we enter the holiday season, which should be sending off alarm bells within the Biden administration, according to Elaine. “Entrepreneurs are feeling pessimistic because of high inflation, the threat of tax increases associated with government programs like the proposed $400 billion illegal student loan bailout, and more government red tape. The survey represents a clear rebuke of policies pursued by the White House thus far this year—suggesting the administration should reverse course in 2023.”

Other key takeaways from the poll include:

  • 74 percent believe taxpayers should not be responsible for covering expenses associated with the Biden administration’s illegal student loan bailout. (JCNF has taken legal action to block the program’s implementation.)
  • 72 percent of small business owners support making the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent.
  • Inflation has gone nowhere in the minds of small businesses as it continues to dominate their concerns and three-quarters (76 percent) don’t believe the Biden administration is doing enough to combat it.
  • Three in five small business employers continue to believe the economy is in a recession.

Capt. Simpson has a critique of the push for prescribed fire:

First off, the title to the Article (below) is MISLEADING, and can (intentionally?) upon a quick skim-read, be interpreted as reducing wildfire in Southern Oregon by 50%.

‘This Southern Oregon Fire Resiliency Project Could Cut Severe Wildfire Risks In Half’

The West Bear forest restoration collaboration provides a blueprint for creating climate-resilient cities.

Marianne Dhenin   December 7, 2022

Link to article:  https://nextcity.org/urbanist-news/indigenous-fire-resiliency-wildfire-risks-oregon

If a reader is paying extra-close attention, and goes to a link buried in the foregoing article, we find that they are talking about ONLY an area of 27,000 acres

And NOT the 4.1-Million acres that comprise the So. Oregon Counties of; Curry, Josephine and Jackson Counties, where we see the majority of So. Oregon Wildfires.

And what about the 3.9-Million acres in neighboring Siskiyou County that has catastrophic wildfires year after year?

Capt. Simpson suggests rebuilding the herbivore population to naturally “chew down” the grass and brush. Here’s his ‘TED-like Talk’ at the 2022 MUSTANG SUMMITGuild Theater in Sacramento, CA Dec. 3rd 2022:  ‘Wildfire & Wild Horses’

Lisa Rinna: The Medford Actress Who Made It

By Dennis Powers

Born in 1963 in Newport Beach, California, Lisa Rinna grew up in Medford after her family moved there. Her father, Frank Rinna, had graduated summa cum laude from the California College of Arts and Crafts; after working in the early1950s for five years as a staff artist, he freelanced on agency accounts, such as Chevron and Harry & David. While working on Harry & David, he was offered the job of Executive Art Director, which involved moving to Medford. Frank retired in 1988 with his watercolors featured at the Britt and in private collections.

A cheerleader from junior high through high school, Lisa attended schools here and graduated in 1981 from Medford Senior High school. While in high school, she acted in shows as “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Hair”. While there, she dreamed of “a more fabulous life.” She studied drama at the University of Oregon after high school, but dropped out after her first term when she was denied entry to its advanced acting program.

She moved to San Francisco, where she pursued a modeling career. In 1986, she had her lips injected on a whim with silicone for that “pillowy” look, along with a “real big ‘boob’ job.” In 1987, she moved to Los Angeles to become an actress, landing early roles on TV commercials, guest appearances on “Baywatch,” and appearing in low-budget movies.

Her career took off in 1992 when she won the role of Billie Reed in the daytime soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” This role earned her back-to-back Soap Opera Digest awards in 1994 and 1995, including “Outstanding Female Newcomer.” Lisa then moved to Fox’s prime-time soap “Melrose Place” in 1996. On “Melrose,” she played the scheming Taylor McBride; this character also became an instant hit and she soon met her future husband, actor Harry Hamlin.

\

Hamlin had graduated from Yale University in 1974 with a BA in Drama and Psychology and then earned a Master of Fine Arts degree from the American Conservatory Theatre. Hamlin appeared in the title role in the 1979 television miniseries “Studs Lonigan”–but his big-screen break was the starring role in the 1981 Greek mythology fantasy epic “Clash of the Titans.”

Afterwards, his career faltered but he returned to television in two miniseries, “Master of the Game” and “Space” (based James Michener’s novel). Following this, Hamlin’s popularity skyrocketed when he starred on the highly popular NBC legal drama series “L.A. Law,” as the principled attorney Michael Kuzak from 1986 to 1991, being voted in 1987 as People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.” Leaving the series, he tried to revive his movie career; however, this was unsuccessful and so far he has only starred in B movies and direct-to-video features. Lisa and Harry married in 1997.

In 1998, Lisa created a stir when she posed for a nude cover in Playboy’s September issue when six months pregnant. She posed again as the cover model in May, 2009–this time in a skimpy leotard, suit jacket, lacy peek-a-boo bra, and fishnets. After “Melrose Place,” she hosted or co-hosted several TV shows, including “Soap Talk” where she earned four Emmy nominations in the “Outstanding Talk Show Host” category. In 2006, Rinna was in the second season of “Dancing with the Stars” as a celebrity competitor. The appearance helped her land the lead role in Broadway’s “Chicago” in 2007–the same year she began her duties as the red-carpet commentator for the TV Guide Network at such events as the Emmy Awards.

More recently, Rinna has written three books, released a series of exercise DVDs, launched a fashion collection (Belle Gray by Lisa Rinna) on TV’s QVC, had a reality show with her husband (“Harry Loves Lisa”) for six episodes, and served as Anderson Cooper’s co-host on his daytime talk show. Her latest venture is a line of lipsticks, lip liner and lip gloss called Rinna Beauty–and continues as a lead in the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” (which she joined in 2014).

There is no question that Lisa has used her exotic looks, infectious energy, and savvy business acumen to become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood–and a long way from Medford.

One story in the front section regards the “Student Health Survey” which is given to 6th, 8th and 11th graders in Oregon public schools. The survey is mindbogglingly long, invasive, and largely inappropriate for the intended audience.

Thanks to Common Core, many parents are already confused when helping their kids with math homework.

This ‘health’ survey requires an expanded vocabulary due to the topics covered.

This week students in Three River schools are taking the survey. I posted it on the Eagle website early as a top story so that interested parents can learn more today.

Well worth your time.

No Country for White Men: The Story of Paul Whelan

Why a former U.S. Marine remains behind bars in a Russian prison.

PEDRO L. GONZALEZ

Paul Nicholas Whelan is an American who was accused of spying and detained by Russian security forces in 2018. He received a 16-year prison sentence in 2020. He currently resides in IK-17, a grim high-security prison southeast of Moscow.

Whelan, a former U.S. Marine, had become a frequent visitor of Russia for work and play. He made friends with an unnamed Federal Security Service employee, who Whelan believes had him set up. “The story was that the DIA [U.S. military intelligence] sent me to Moscow to pick up a flash drive with the names and photos of students from the border guard school,” he told BBC News.

According to Whelan, no concrete evidence of the plot was presented by his accusers. He suspects Russian security forces fabricated an excuse to detain and use him as leverage in a prisoner exchange. He said the names of two Russians incarcerated in the U.S. were always mentioned: convicted drug smuggler Konstantin Yaroshenko and arms dealer Victor Bout, so-called the “Merchant of Death” because of the size and scope of his gruesome enterprise.

It looks like Whelan was right. Today, the U.S. released Bout in a prisoner swap—but not for him. Instead, we traded Bout for Brittney Griner, a female basketball player who was arrested in February for carrying cannabis products in Russia, where the drug is illegal.

It’s hard to think of a moment that better encapsulates everything wrong with the U.S., of an instance that better defines its stupidity and malice. Read more at:

6:35 Jason Dudash Oregon Director of the Freedom Foundation. www.FreedomFoundation.com

According to documents obtained by the Freedom Foundation, the Oregon Education Association (OEA) finds itself in the throes of a membership “crisis”.

Nearly one in five teachers have now broken ranks with OEA, and the Freedom Foundation has directly helped 600 teachers leave the union since April, when the union’s numbers were last reported.F ull press release is here.

Oregon teachers are realizing their unions support policies that harm the students they love, and that their parent group, the National Education Association, reported spending more than twice as much money on political expenditures than it did on representational activities for its members.

This afternoon on FoxNews.com we published a piece describing why, in Oregon and across the country, thousands of teachers are telling their union, “we’re sick of this and we’re done with you.”

7:35 Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project:

Oral arguments in  the case Moore V. Harper have concluded, the Honest Election Project released the following statement.

“Today’s argument shows a number of justices are skeptical of respondents’ claims. The argument also reiterated that the plain text of the Constitution gives state legislatures the power to write the laws that govern federal elections. The Constitution ought to be honored, and state courts should not seize the power to act as super-legislatures. Allowing the people’s elected lawmakers to make law is not a threat to democracy, it is democracy. The argument also showed that a muscular ruling in favor of North Carolina lawmakers would not make legislatures unchecked and all powerful. A ruling in favor of respondents, however, risks exactly that: courts seizing the power to write and rewrite election laws, with few, if any, checks.

“The U.S. Supreme Court has a chance to set the record straight with a clear ruling that affirms the Constitution and limits the ability of partisan lawyers like Marc Elias to continue their campaign to use rogue courts to skew election rules for partisan gain. To do otherwise would be to leave the door wide open to unprecedented partisan litigation to change election rules on the eve of a presidential election. A clear ruling now could avoid that chaos, and that would be a win for voters and for the rule of law.”

6:35 Hiram Sasser, Executive General Counsel at First Liberty Institute. https://firstliberty.org/

Topic: It’s not just Christmas bureaucrats want to cancel, they are taking aim at Hanukkah, other holidays

Hiram Sasser, Executive General Counsel at First Liberty Institute discusses his latest op-ed where he discusses the latest War on Christmas taking place outside Seattle, WA.  King County, Washington, where Seattle sits, is banning its employees from displaying any symbols of Christmas or Hanukkah when working from home, according to a recent article. The King County policy bans employees from including holiday decorations such as nativity scenes, crosses and menorahs, and even extends the ban to the dharma wheel, crescent and star, aum, khanda, and a nine-pointed star.  Hiram says, “The bureaucratic drive to eradicate all individualism and creativity and create a bland dystopian landscape glorifying secularism seems to have no limits. What was once cast as an effort to protect the feelings of those of minority faiths now reveals its true self – acknowledgment of anything beyond the temporal is forbidden.”

Shirley Patton: A Legend in Her Own Time

By Dennis Powers

Shirley Patton’s family moved from a small town in Washington to Portland during World War II. She loved acting in high school and was a theater major at Stanford University where she learned about Angus Bowmer and his tiny theater company in Ashland, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival (“OSF”). After graduation, she came to Ashland in 1958 at age 20.

Shirley was asked to play the role of Viola in “Twelfth Night,” the morning of the opening night when the original actress became hospitalized the night before. “I wasn’t even the understudy,” Patton said. This started her acting career at OSF. Although she returned to Portland to teach in supplementing her acting, Bowmer invited her to return although he had given out all of the scholarships he had at that time.

Shirley met her husband, Bill Patton, only minutes after she got off the bus. Bill was the general manager of the company at the time. They were married six months later, about when the theater was torn down when the fire department condemned it. They were married for 52 years before Bill passed away in 2011. The OSF dedicated its 2011 season, its 76th, to Patton, who had led the company from 1953 to 1995–another story in itself.

Her life revolved around the theater, and she was a member of the OSF acting company for 30 seasons and played more than 50 roles. After leaving OSF, she performed in numerous local theater venues on many stages, such as the Camelot Theatre, Southern Oregon University, and the Craterian Theater in a variety of roles.

One of her most memorable roles was in the Pulitzer Prize and Academy Award winning story of “Driving Miss Daisy” in 2014 at the Camelot Theatre. Livia Genise, the artistic director, asked her whether she would like to play Daisy Werthan–but there was a problem. Patton had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system for which there is no cure. Patients in the early stages often develop tremors, move slowly, and have trouble walking. Speech can be affected.

Shirley said, “If Daisy can have Parkinson’s, then yes.” She’d work on the problems but she couldn’t mask a tremor in one hand. So this Daisy had a tremor. Patton came to the first rehearsal in January with nearly all of her lines memorized. She worked on her balance, the quick changes needed of costumes, voice, and breathing. The applause on opening night was deservedly long.

In January 2019, Shirley Patton was in her 75th year of acting and celebrated 60 years of service with the Tudor Guild, as its longest standing member. The Tudor Guild supports OSF financially through its gift shop. Patton, however, also helped find housing and household items for actors, along with child care for employees, volunteers, and even audience members. Shirley is also the voice for JPR’s “As It Was” stories since 2005.

She starred in Camelot Theatre’s “The Gin Game” in 2019. Southern Oregonians are lucky to have seen or know Shirley Patton over these years. She is not only very talented and dedicated, but also someone you would like to know as a friend.

Here’s more about what we discussed:

Efficiency or Enslavement?

Stop Vax Passports Panel to Discuss Smart Health Cards, Digital Drivers Licenses, and Central Bank Digital Currency as Drivers for Mass Population Control

StopVaxPassports.org

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Are we being trapped in a “digital gulag,” set by digital IDs and a Central Bank Digital Currency?

China’s Social Credit System – a formidable instrument of mass surveillance and totalitarian control – may be implemented in the United States and world-wide through any mandatory digital ID, including a vaccine passport, smart health card, or digital driver’s license. This is especially the case when combined with a Central Bank Digital Currency and a cashless society.

As the vaccine and mask mandates have been relaxed, the vaccine passport – sometimes deceptively re-labeled as a “smart health card” or “digital ID”— is being quietly rolled out in several states across our nation, as well as nations worldwide.  Any mandatory digital ID can support the infrastructure to lock us down and remove our freedom during the next pandemic, or in service of some other goal, such as reducing our carbon footprint. Within minutes, these digital IDs can incorporate all the surveillance technology used in China’s Social Credit System.

In a cashless society, banks, credit card companies, and authorities could track all our spending and sever us from our financial resources – as happened earlier this year when truckers and their supporters suddenly found the Canadian government had blocked access to their credit cards and bank accounts.

A Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) can be “programmable”:  it can be programmed to control the purchases of individuals, to reward or punish people for their social credit scores or their personal carbon footprint, or perhaps to effectuate so-called “climate reparations.”

In response to Executive Order 14067, the Biden Administration is actively evaluating whether to launch a CBDC.  They have released the “First-Ever Comprehensive Framework for Responsible Development of Digital Assets.”  The Bank of England, the International Monetary Fund, and Beijing, have all voiced ambitions to push CBDCs.

These new technologies are being implemented, institutionalized, and may easily be weaponized against Americans unless we understand what is afoot and take action now.

Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers and Co-Chair of the Stop Vaccine Passports Task Force stated, “The G-20 nations have just issued a joint declaration calling for international, interoperable “proof of vaccinations” – in other words, vaccine passports – in service of a global “digital transformation.”  At the same time, the Declaration states, “We acknowledge the importance to counter disinformation campaigns . . .”  Taken together with the push for Central Bank Digital Currencies by the Biden Administration and others, we are staring the Digital Gulag in the face.  Unless we resist these global movements, we will soon be living in a world in which — if we disagree with the official WHO narrative — we will be held to be purveyors of “disinformation.”  Not only will we face censorship, but we may be cut off from our bank accounts and credit cards and effectively canceled as members of society.

7:10 Sheriff (Ret) Currie Myers, PhD, MBA has a combined 35 years of professional experience as a law enforcement officer at the local, state, and federal level, and as a criminologist, professor, and executive. Dr. Myers ended his law enforcement career as the sheriff of Johnson County, Kansas which serves a population of more than 600,000 citizens in the Kansas City Metropolitan area and is one of the largest sheriff’s offices in the Midwest. Prior to being sheriff, Dr. Myers was a Kansas State Trooper and a KBI special agent. He is a nationally recognized expert in criminal justice public policy as well as organizational management and leadership and has spoken at more than 1,000 local, state, and national conferences.

We discuss Dr. Myers’ latest article, a deep dibe on his Crime and Society Newsletter substack called The Advent of Feral Man:

“As a criminologist with years of actual field experience as a law enforcement officer, I have seen the worst of man, and often the best of man. However, the last few decades have been a quick descent into the worst of man. I call this current phenomenon, the advent of the feral man…The most fundamental reason criminogenic behavior occurs is a lack of faith, family, and formation.”

Dr. Myers is a criminologist, university professor and the retired sheriff of 600,000 citizen Johnson County outside of Kansas City, MO.  Dr. Myers was also a Kansas State Trooper and Special Agent.

His piece today is a deep dive into crime in America with many facts, citations and examples and ends with immediate criminal justice public policy areas of improvement to consider.  It is a bit long, but a very smart and worthwhile read.

6:35  Trent England, Executive Director of Save Our States

Texas lawmakers have just introduced bills to upend their electoral process and dramatically change the way state residents elect the President. Bills to elect the President via a national “popular” vote (NPV) will be considered in both the TX Senate and state House of Representatives.

Trent England, Executive Director of Save Our States says this radial, unnecessary move will greatly reduce Texas’ role in national elections and ignore the voices of tens of thousands of voters in rural counties. Save Our states is the lead organization combatting NPV and exposing how a national vote would essentially nullify our successful, present national election process (the Electoral College) without a constitutional amendment.

“An effort to manipulate the Electoral College and circumvent the Constitution has come to Texas ahead of the 2023 state legislative session. Save Our States strongly opposes efforts to manipulate or dismantle our presidential election system through the National Popular Vote interstate compact (HB237 and SB95). The Electoral College helps ensure the integrity of our elections and the diversity within our political parties. Proposals like NPV further erode voter confidence and undermine the rule of law in our constitutional republic.”

Reps. Cliff Bentz (OR-02) Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) released a statement on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s (FERC) disappointing decision to remove the Klamath dams.

“We are outraged by FERC’s decision to allow surrender of the PacifiCorp Klamath hydroelectric license to a shell corporation, thus allowing PacifiCorp to avoid responsibility for the consequences of removing its Klamath River dams. Such consequences include reducing power generation, eliminating recreational assets, decimating the local community’s economy, destroying firefighting resources, and damaging the Klamath River’s ecosystems. The politicization of this process is apparent in Oregon and California’s stampede to issue the Clean Water Act Section 401 certifications required to remove the dams. The release of massive amounts of accumulated silt from behind the dams will be devastating to water quality, will cover spawning beds, and will choke fish. Obviously, when politically expedient, the governors of California and Oregon will turn a blind eye to dramatic and substantial environmental damages.

Many of the residents of the Klamath Basin have been outspoken in their opposition to dam removal. Siskiyou county has overwhelmingly voted against decommissioning, and Congress has refused to fund dam removal. Instead of respecting the voice of the people, unelected bureaucrats are providing a blank check, payable by tax and rate payers of Oregon and California, to cover the unknown costs associated with dam removal. No plan exists to ensure that proper river flows will be available following dam removal. FERC’s decision, and Oregon and California’s complicity in steamrolling the environmental protections under the Clean Water Act, will not adequately protect the health and prosperity of the community or the environment.

We are exploring legislative options to properly address this politicized and environmentally destructive decision. Additionally, in the upcoming 118th Congress, we Republicans will use our majority to aggressively conduct oversight of this flawed decision making process.” – Reps. Bentz and LaMalfa said.

The consequences listed above are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to dam removal on the Klamath River. It is unfortunate that Oregon and California so haphazardly rushed to issue Section 401 certifications. Both Congressman Bentz and Congressman LaMalfa look forward to conducting oversight of this disappointing and outrageous decision.

Essentially, the FBI knows who the culprit is, but they are only going through the motions of offering a token $25,000 reward and temporarily putting it on their Most Wanted list. With about 50 such incidents across the country, why no arrests?

Nine Philosopher kings were commissioned to undergird the articles of Marxist faith while expunging dogma and religious doctrine. Their seeds of a pre-ordained organic philosophy were planted to upbring young sprouts to destroy the America republic and rebuild from that rubble the next Marxist country. The unrelenting pressures to indoctrinate children with the Marxist family of totalitarian ideologies that promises to ‘free the child’ comes to communities under various guises. The allure of promises made in the name of fairness, equity, tolerance and more recent of social justice has drawn a large percentage of millennials to socialism. Behind the race baited mantras, metro regional government is working for the eventual transformation of schools as learning centers staffed with soviet councils to transform neighborhoods into self-sustaining eco-villages. Children will be socialized as activists for their community to install Fascist green agendas, paired with Marxist social justice.

Comment sent to City of Medford Council today

I respectfully demand that you stop moving forward with the current re-striping/alteration traffic control plan, commonly referred to as “The road diet plan” pushed for downtown Medford. You are engaging in a consensus-based process pre-determined outcome and are NOT getting true public input. I will point out that consensus is not a word found in the U.S. Constitution, nor the Constitution of Oregon. You are being supplied by staff with information supporting a predetermined agenda-based outcome that is not considering the true CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. True public input and consent has been neither given, nor sought. Information acquired through a consensus-based support mechanism is not a valid reason to continue in this direction.

(From today’s study session packet) “On-Line Survey – A public on-line survey was completed which received nearly 700 responses. Of this total, 69.7% favored the no-build option which would leave all striping and lane configurations unchanged. 30.3% respondents favored some or all of the recommended options. Council should note that this was an open uncontrolled survey; we received responses from all over southern Oregon and does not represent a true scientific sample of Medford residences.“

<snip>

If you are being pressured through grant stream funding requirements to pursue this direction, then I respectfully demand that you back away from the grant stream funding option. Withdraw from the grants stream funding. The small business activity that occurs in downtown Medford cannot be supported by these proposed changes. It will destroy business viability.

It is your fiduciary duty as a city council to oversee these proposed changes and recognize them for the danger to our small business community that they are.
Affiliation with and/or influence from The American Planning Association gives your employees no right to neglect their fiduciary obligation and duties, as employees of the citizens of this city, to propose changes that are ultimately destructive to the health, safety, welfare, (long-term economic welfare) and well-being of the citizens of our city.

Your staff sourced the survey and now wishes to avoid the negative impact from the referenced survey. The City encouraged people to use the survey. I encouraged listeners to my morning show to give you their public input and now “It’s an uncontrolled Survey”.

Are 300 bicyclists signing a petition with the Velo Club (An agenda-based group) a “Controlled Survey”? Of course not. The Velo club’s noted 300 person input is basically a consensus-based stakeholder interference with common sense realities, and can only be construed as one comment in any percentage-based analysis.
Perhaps staff isn’t doing a scientific survey because they KNOW that a proper survey, with a REAL public input session and hearing, would give the “Wrong” answer.

Do your fiduciary duty and represent THE PEOPLE, not the staff’s adherence to a predetermined outcome stakeholder-based process.

Sincerely,

Bill Meyer
Resident of Medford

Films made in Southern Oregon

By Dennis Powers

Southern Oregon has had its share of feature films, independents (“indies”), and made-for-TV filmed here. In the 1975 film, “Rooster Cogburn,” John Wayne played the one-eyed, alcoholic federal marshal who met and was won over by Katharine Hepburn’s tough, New England schoolteacher character. The river float scenes were filmed on the Rogue, and John Wayne made Deer Creek Ranch, one mile west of Selma, his private hideaway.

In 1960, the TV show “Route 66” televised two episodes set in Grants Pass, Merlin, and Wolf Creek. As Marshal Matt Dillon in “Gunsmoke,” James Arness dove into the cold Rogue River waters while escaping outlaws. The 1994 film, “The River Wild,” was filmed on the Rogue, starring Kevin Bacon and Meryl Streep.

Despite these well-known features, the famous cliff-diving scene in the 1969 film, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” did not happen at Hellgate Canyon. The Rocky Mountains provided the cliff and river scene with the precipice on a Hollywood soundstage.

Jacksonville with its turn-of-the-century buildings was another favorite. “The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid,” was filmed there in 1970. Universal Pictures had the town appear like the 1870 when Jesse James and his gang had tough problems robbing a bank. Planks were laid over concrete sidewalks, telephone poles removed, and streets covered with dirt; when the producers asked for extras, needing only 200, thousands of area residents showed up, many in western garb.

Owing to a favorable movie-making climate, more Indies are being filmed in this area now and with well-known actors and actresses. The great majority of the forty-plus productions filmed (in part or their entirety) in Southern Oregon within the last fifteen years are Indies. Of these, “Night Moves,” “Redwood Highway,” (with three others by Gary and Anne Lundgren) stand out.

In 2012, crew members in “Night Moves” ate at Porters restaurant. Liking the setting, one asked if they could shoot a scene there. Porters agreed and later could add a film credit to its list of TV commercials. This movie is about three eco-terrorists who conspire to blow up a dam, and the production was filmed from Roseburg to the Applegate Valley, Medford, and Ashland. “Night Moves” features Jesse Eisenberg, who had the starring role as Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, in the box-office hit, “The Social Network,” as well as Dakota Fanning, who has appeared in dozens of movies including “War of the Worlds.”

“Redwood Highway” is about a woman (Marie) who was living in a retirement community in Southern Oregon, but took off on foot along the Redwood Highway to the Pacific Ocean. Premiered in 2013, Marie is played by Shirley Knighta Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner (also twice nominated for an Academy Award). Tom Skerritt, who acted in “Alien,” “Top Gun,” and “A River Runs through It,” is in a supporting role. The locations ranged from Cave Junction and downtown Grants Pass to the Applegate River Lodge, Talent, and Ashland. It is an excellent movie.

The local, Ashland producers of this film–Gary and Anne Lundgren–also created and produced “Black Road”, “Calvin Marshall,” and “Phoenix, Oregon”. This is under their Joma Films credit.

“Black Road” (2016) is a science fiction movie filmed in Southern Oregon and the Oregon Coast from Gold Hill northward. “Calvin Marshall” (2010), starring Alex Frost and Steve Zahn (of “Sahara” fame), was an award-winning baseball comedy and filmed in Ashland, Southern Oregon University, and Central Point. “Phoenix, Oregon,” is about two friends who battle mid-life crises and open a bowling alley/pizzeria, filmed in Klamath Falls (2019); it was the number one movie in America for three weeks in 2020 “when producers shared streaming profits with shuttered cinemas.”

In 2022, Joma completed the principal photography on “Above the Trees”. This is a new feature film about a murder in a small Oregon town when a local boxer is charged with committing the crime. Filmed across Southern Oregon, the shoot days were “often short and were spread out over the seasons,” owing to Covid.

With the outdoors and amenities of this region, the snap of a scene set with the shout for “Action!” is continually heard.

<snip>

Do your fiduciary duty and represent THE PEOPLE, not the staff’s adherence to a pre-determined outcome stakeholder-based process.

Sincerely,

Bill Meyer
Resident of Medford

6:35 Steve Milloy, Senior Energy & Environment Legal Institute Legal Fellow and former Trump/Pence EPA Transition Team Member, founder of www.JunkScience.com

Topic: Biden’s $25 billion “nature-based” climate agenda

Length: 10-15 minutes

Inflation is higher than it has been in 40 years, U.S. energy independence is gone thanks to the left-wing climate agenda, and to keep the price of gas low Biden has drained the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to its lowest level since the 80’s. Only the Biden administration would foolishly think to double down with $25 billion worth of climate alarmist projects to further destroy the economy and domestic energy.

“Biden promises ‘nature-based climate solutions for military installations.’ You can hear President Xi laughing from here,” Tweeted Steve Milloy, Senior E&E Legal Fellow and former Trump/Pence EPA Transition Team Member.

On Tuesday, the White House released its “Roadmap for Nature-Based Solutions to Fight Climate Change.” In addition to “nature-based solutions” for military installations, the administration said it would look for similar solutions for energy, the economy and national security.

11 of 15 Eastern Oregon Counties Have Already Voted for a “Greater” Idaho

The Greater Idaho movement continued its winning streak in eastern Oregon for the fifth election cycle in a row by winning elections in Morrow County, where the town of Boardman is located, and Wheeler County. The movement aims to convince state legislatures to move the Oregon/Idaho border to make conservative counties of Oregon into counties of Idaho, which is a red state.

8:10  Brian Mayo, Oregon State Pharmacy Association’s Executive Director

A report just released by the Oregon State Pharmacy Association (OSPA) is revealing new details about what’s leading to skyrocketing prescription drug prices in Oregon and the closure of pharmacies across the state. The report shows how Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) are taking advantage of pharmacies while charging Medicare and Medicaid astronomical prices; in one case, more than eight times the original asking price. PBMs are middlemen companies between drug manufacturers and patients’ health plans that were originally meant to control drug costs and accessibility, but are now driving up the cost of your prescription drugs.

DAY AFTER ELECTION…

A celebratory Dinner (Pork Chops/smashed potatoes) with my Linda tonight. She managed Commissioner Roberts re-election campaign and it went great! (Although one TV station announced incorrectly at first that she had lost!) Anyway, savor the victories where we find them. I’m glad that Christine Drazan isn’t conceding to Terrible Tina, there are mail-in votes and who knows what else. There’s no reason to be in a hurry, let it play out.

Randy Sparacino had a tough battle against Golden in a +7 Dem district. 52-48 is a damn respectable performance, just wish he had won. John West will be a great fit in the Jo County Commission, and great to have Comm. Dyer returned to office. Frankly surprised there was so little churn in our local legislators, all re-elected. I just grumble that Marsh/Golden had the same situation. Amazing that the two sponsors of the detested SB762 have managed to skate back into office.

Mushrooms mostly went down except for Phoenix at last check, and Jackson County. Amazing how many leftists find their love for the military once it’s time to manufacture yet another hallucinogenic drug in our area.

Now…about Measure 114? Look for a legal challenge if it continues to pass. Unbelievable how many Oregonians gleefully vote to take away constitutional rights that are in the state AND fed constitution. No, there is no forgiveness for this evil. We still have a lot of work to do…

7:10 John O’Connor, legal analyst/author of Postgate: How the Washington Post Betrayed Deep Throat, Covered Up Watergate, and Began Today’s Partisan Advocacy Journalism and host of The Mysteries of Watergate Podcast. He served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Northern California representing the United States in both criminal and civil cases. John and I talk the mid-terms, and the attack on former President Trump, who John believes will soon be indicted.

ABOUT POSTGATE – Deep Throat’s lawyer discovers the Washington Post betrayed his client—while covering up the real truth about the Watergate scandal.

SOU’s Wrestling Teams: A Best-Kept Secret

By Dennis Powers

The strong run of SOU’s wrestling teams depended on its coaches and dates back to Bob Riehm, who coached in 1969 for 25 years to his retirement in 1994. He compiled a 270-71-2 career record (near 80%), mentoring 100 NAIA All-Americans, numerous ones who later became wrestling coaches. He was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame, the Oregon Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the SOU Sports Hall of Fame. The gymnasium inside SOU’s former McNeal Pavilion was named Bob Riehm Arena in 2011.

Mike Ritchey then guided the Raiders to 23 consecutive winning dual records and finished with an overall mark of 235-107 (near 70%). A nine-time regional coach of the year and two-time NAIA Coach of the Year, his teams captured 14 conference or regional championships, won a national championship, placed second in the team standings five times, and was also inducted into the Hall of Fames, as Bob Riehm was.

The women’s wrestling team is relatively new, dating back to Mike Ritchey and SOU President, Roy Saigo, in starting this in 2016 with the men’s wrestling team. Joel Gibson’s coaching for the last two years brought the women’s team to its present national prominence prior to the hiring of a new women’s coach.

A longtime SOU wrestling assistant, Phoenix High School coach, and former Raider All-American, Joel was named SOU’s head men’s and women’s wrestling coach in 2019. With the men’s coach doubling as the women’s, it was Bob Riehm’s huge posthumous gift that allowed the hiring of a full-time coach in June 2022 for the women’s team.

The women’s team had completed its fourth season before Gibson took over. In his first season, he led the Raiders to an 8-2 dual record. They were No. 3 in the NAIA coaches’ poll and boasted eight individuals with top-10 rankings going into the NAIA Invitational Tournament, which was canceled owing to Covid the day before being scheduled to begin.

The women’s team took second place in the 2022 NAIA wrestling finals, plus its world-class wrestler, Sienna Ramirez, not only won her NAIA championship, but also won the 2022 U.S. Open later in Las Vegas. This moved her one step closer to making USA Wrestling’s senior-level world team. However, in a “Final X” 2022 wrestle-off in Stillwater, Okla., on June 3rd, she lost in a best of three series to the Tokyo Olympics gold medalist, Tamyra Mensah-Stock.

Bob Riehm, who passed away at age 83 in 2020, left a $3 million donation to SOU in 2022; one-third of the gift endows the men’s wrestling head coach position (allowing for a new women’s coach), and the other two-thirds funds scholarships for wrestlers. In that year, Gabrielle Weyhrich was appointed the new women’s coach.

At McKendree University (Illinois), Weyhrich helped the Bearcats to team titles in the NCAA division of the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships in 2020, ’21, and ’22, with four top-three finishes at the WCWA National Duals. During that time, she completed a master’s degree in business administration.

She was a team captain and WCWA national finalist during her undergraduate days. Weyhrich has also been a Body Bar national finalist, a U-23 national finalist, and a fourth-place finisher at the USA Wrestling 2018 World Team Trials. That year, she qualified for the “Final X True” Third Match.

These wrestling teams have been the most successful at SOU for five decades and a new season is upon us.

6:35 Jason Snead with the Honest Elections Project, www.honestelections.org We talk about a number of issues surrounding the election.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled on that counties will not count mail-in and absentee ballots that are undated or dated incorrectly. Instead, the ballots will be pulled out and preserved.

Jason Snead, Executive Director of Honest Elections Project, issued the following statement.

“Today’s court ruling is a major win for Pennsylvanians and for the rule of law. As we pointed out in our brief, Pennsylvania law clearly requires that every mail ballot be dated and signed. That simple, straightforward rule helps to stop late and illegal voting without burdening anyone’s right to vote. Despite the black-and-white legal requirement, the Pennsylvania Acting Secretary of State tried to ignore the law and count undated ballots. Thankfully the Pennsylvania Supreme Court upheld the rule of law and ordered officials not to count undated and wrongly dated ballots. Election integrity begins by following the law, and this decision is a big win for Pennsylvanians.”

View Statement here: https://www.honestelections.org/honest-elections-project-reacts-to-pennsylvania-supreme-court-decision/

Earlier this week, Arizona Judge Michael Liburdi ordered a temporary restraining order against Clean Elections USA for coming too close to drop boxes.

Honest Elections Project Executive Director Jason Snead released the following statement regarding the Arizona voter intimidation lawsuit brought by the League of Women Voters:

“No one should have to brave intimidation to vote. I applaud Judge Liburdi’s ruling last night. The court’s narrow order helps to protect Arizona voters from harassment as they return their mail ballots without inhibiting the traditional and crucial role of legitimate poll observers and other election safeguards. Election laws inspire confidence when they guarantee both access and security. Our amicus brief in a related Ninth Circuit case points this out. Mail ballots are uniquely vulnerable and need special safeguards, especially against coercive vote trafficking. The goal should always be to protect public confidence in democracy by making it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

As we know, California is always the testing ground for what Team Evil wants to spread across America, so we should pay special attention to Prop 1 and the phrase “reproductive freedom”.

CALIFORNIA’S PROPOSED ABORTION AMENDMENT IS AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO PARENTS’ ABILITY TO PROTECT CHILDREN

Proposition 1 will change our state constitution to say: “The state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate decisions….”

Not only will Prop 1 entrench California’s already expansive abortion laws, allowing late-term abortions and even infanticide, it will bar our government from limiting any REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM.

What is the meaning of this “reproductive freedom?” There is none.

Courts have never defined the term. The legislature has never defined the term. SHOCKINGLY, the language of the Proposition itself does not define the term. Read the League’s earlier article here.  No one knows. Even pro-abort experts admit they do not know what this vague, overbroad language will do. Watch the Youtube video.

Prop 1 is about MUCH MORE than abortion. By declaring “reproductive freedom” to be a fundamental individual right regardless of age, Prop 1 can strip away parental rights to protect children from sexual abuse, including surgical and medical gender transitions. Here’s how:

Prop 1 uses the undefined term “reproductive freedom.” That is deliberate. It sounds nice – who doesn’t want “freedom” to reproduce?  The language suggests that families and women will have more “reproductive freedom” to have children. But Prop 1 does not define the term and does not include any restriction based on age.  In fact, it actually prevents all state “interference” on whatever courts will decide “reproductive freedom” means.

7:10 NEW BOOK: THE BIOMEDICAL SECURITY STATE GIVES UNCHECKED POWER TO GLOBAL ELITES Renowned physician Dr. Aaron Kheriaty exposes those behind the arrogant and deadly regime

About the book: In the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic a new branch of government has formed, one that is entirely unaccountable: the biomedical security state. In his forthcoming book, The New Abnormal: The Rise of the Biomedical Security State (November 1, 2022), renowned physician and eminent bioethicist Dr. Aaron Kheriaty reveals how this audacious regime has combined public health, digital-surveillance technologies, and state police powers to become one of the world’s most dangerous threats to freedom and human flourishing. Covid was merely the biomedical security state’s trial run. Its designs for dismantling our democracy are just starting.

The pandemic conferred enormous power on certain government officials and private interests—and they have no intention of giving it up.

In the space of a few weeks in early 2020, America and other nations witnessed the imposition of previously unimagined social control by the biomedical security state—the unelected technocrats who suddenly held broad power to incarcerate, isolate, and medicate the entire population.

In this chilling and groundbreaking new book, The New Abnormal, Dr. Kheriaty reveals:

  • The individuals and organizations that comprise the biomedical security state
  • The biomedical security state’s role in the origin of and response to the pandemic
  • The biomedical security state’s multifold threat to science, public health, and individual freedom
  • What everyday citizens can do to confront and defeat this new Leviathan

The Living Memorial Sculpture Garden

By Dennis Powers

The Living Memorial Sculpture Garden (“LMSG”) is located on the northwestern slope of Mt. Shasta, 13 miles north of the City of Weed, on Highway 97 in the Goosenest Ranger District of the Klamath National Forest in Siskiyou County, California. The area rests on 136 acres of land provided by the USDA Forest Service (“USFS”), which were replanted with tens of thousands of trees by countless volunteers. The trees are a living tribute to all veterans who have sacrificed their lives in war and peace. The site includes an impressive memorial wall and ten large, metal sculptures by artist Dennis Smith.

Ric Delugo, an artist and Vietnam vet, in the summer of 1987 envisioned a living memorial at first for Vietnam veterans: a dedicated forest grove consisting of more than 58,000 trees, one planted for each American service person killed in the Vietnam War. He explained his idea to a friend, John Sutter of the USFS, who guided the project through the bureaucratic process.

Over time, the concept came to include a broader understanding of war and its effects upon all persons caught up in this. Delugo’s vision included the installation of a series of metal sculptures, and he spent weeks tracking down an old friend and artist, Dennis Smith, a Marine veteran of Vietnam, who had a talent for making large steel sculptures.

In 1988, Dennis arrived in Siskiyou County with $6 in his pocket. At first, all Ric could offer Dennis was a place to live and food. But as time passed, they began getting small donations to buy materials and needed tools.

The LMSG started with the acquisition of the land needed. Soon, this idea took hold within the region, as volunteers donated their time and labor, as well as generous financial contributions for the garden’s creation.

Church groups, high school children, 4H clubs, Veterans groups, and the American Legion, among others, planted more than 90,000 trees provided by the USFS. Further donations enabled the building of the Memorial Wall, including a helicopter sculpture by Dennis Smith.

The Weed/Lake Shastina Kiwanis Club later assumed the LMSG responsibility (but when joining the Kiwanis Club of Yreka, the Club has been renamed the Kiwanis Club of Siskiyou). Each year, two memorial services are held there, one on Memorial Day (May) and another on Veterans’ Day (November)–and call for details. At these memorial services, new names are placed on the Wall. This is an exquisite site that should not be missed. See the website for the images of the sculptures and gardens, which are truly unique.
