7:10: Dr. Jane Orient M.D. Executive Director for the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons talks with Bill.
Today, we talk with the good doctor about the hype surrounding Covid-19.
COVID Hype and Hope
by Jane M. Orient, M.D.
The dictionary definition of “hype” is a deception or put-on, or promotional publicity of an extravagant or contrived kind. But regarding medical advances, it might be used to refer to hope.
Hope, or “false hope,” is something doctors are not supposed to give patients regarding a non-established treatment for a disease, especially one deemed to be incurable.
Hope is not needed if an outcome is assured. Hope is what sustains people when the outlook appears bleak. The alternative is despair.
Regarding COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other established national and international agencies define what is hype or false hope. If “hype,” also called “harmful misinformation,” appears on a website or social media, it will be disappeared, cancelled, or labeled as dangerous, as people are referred to WHO or CDC websites.
Remember that most entities promoting panic and despair have an ulterior motive. They are selling a remedy, the only thing that they say can save you from certain disaster.
WHO, CDC, et al., and the medical organizations and physicians who trust their authority are saying that COVID-19 is incurable. We must remain locked down, separated, and masked. If we catch it, we must go home, self-isolate, and come to the hospital if we can’t breathe. We can take some over-the-counter medications for fever and pain, but there is nothing to prescribe.
Once in the hospital, we will be separated from family, friends, clergy, and independent doctors. If we’re about to die, there may be a ventilator available for us. Our chance of surviving then may be 50 percent—or less. The hospital we are in might have a clinical trial for which we are eligible. We’ll be assigned to get—or not get—a drug that they think might work. Or perhaps we’ll get remdesivir on an FDA Emergency Use Authorization. The government has committed to buy 3 months’ worth of production at $3,120 per 5-day course of treatment (500,000 doses). If each course has six doses, that’s about $260 million. If we survive—remdesivir doesn’t seem to affect that—it will save us about four days in the hospital.
That’s real money, not just hype.
The latest “hype” to warn us about concerns quercetin. According to Medpage Today, the hype is “comparable to early data on hydroxychloroquine” (HCQ). This plant flavonoid, found in capers and green tea, shares one mechanism of action with HCQ. It helps zinc get into cells, where it interferes with the replication of the virus that causes COVID-19. Quercetin is commonly available over the counter. Some doctors recommend it because our government protectors (who are remdesivir promoters) have made it very difficult for doctors to prescribe or pharmacists to dispense the old, cheap drug HCQ.
If someone is promising a unique, secret, overly expensive, 100 percent effective cure-all, that sounds like hype. But doctors saying that “I have seen evidence that HCQ might help you, especially if taken early, and in my experience patients have quickly gotten better” is the practice of the art of medicine. It gives patients hope, and often relief. And now a controlled study at Henry Ford Hospital has shown that HCQ cuts the risk of death in hospitalized patients in half.
Promoting vitamin D, vitamin C, vitamin A, elderberry syrup, selenium, and many other available, reasonably priced preventatives and remedies might also be called “hype”—by WHO and those who are selling expensive novel drugs and universal vaccination as the only hope.
Is there hype about randomized controlled trials (RCTs)? They can be designed to fail, as by giving treatment too late or in an overdose that increases death or adverse effects, or they can fabricate data. Studies that had to be retracted were used to stop further research and treatment with HCQ.
Is there hype about vaccines? Trials race on, but they are tainted with ethical questions. For example, demonstrators in South Africa carried signs saying “We are NOT guinea pigs” and “Gates we are not your lab rats.” The African Centre for Biodiversity raised many concerns about the vaccine trial, such as withholding crucial safety information. The controversial Louis Farrakhan warns against taking the vaccine pushed by white multibillionaire Bill Gates.
Do the lives of black African Africans matter if we badly need research results?
Our hope for humanity depends on honest, ethical research and freedom to choose our own care, even if self-anointed U.S. or global authorities demean our communications as “hype.”

8:10: Kurt Schlicter, Townhall Columnist and talk show host chats with Bill. Kurt is also the author of:
The 21 Biggest Lies About Donald Trump (And You)
We’ll talk with him about it.
Over the last three months, the U.S. has pushed through one of the most difficult periods in recent history, battling a global pandemic, astronomical job-loss, and an outbreak of destructive rioting alongside peaceful protests. But through the uncertainty, one constant remains—the mainstream media’s unanimous hatred for any policy President Trump champions—and the tens of millions of conservative voters who support him.
In The 21 Biggest Lies About Donald Trump (and you!), #1-rated Townhall columnist, conservative media personality, and army colonel present at the LA riots, Kurt Schlichter, unleashes his no-holds-barred political wit to debunk the 21 biggest lies the radical left, the political establishment, and the mainstream media are actively peddling to smear President Trump and conservative voters in the leadup to 2020 in a shameless attempt to maintain the status quo, explaining:
- Why liberals cry racism despite the Democratic party’s inseparable racist roots.
- How Trump “the warmonger” has actually given America a more realistic—and safer—foreign policy than his immediate predecessors.
- Why the media still refuses to recognize the difference between legal and illegal immigrants.
- Why Trump’s voters have proven right on so many key issues that the media failed to explain.

6:35: Nicole Neily, President of Speech First chats with Bill this morning.
Nicole had an article in Newsweek this past weekend, where she argues against “Cancel Culture,” which has disproportionately affected our country’s youth.
She says that excommunicating teenagers from society, only exacerbates the country’s problems rather than allowing them to heal.
“The university, more than any other institution in society, has a responsibility to challenge speech― good and bad―through debate and dialogue. Yet by rejecting the very students who most desperately need to be taught these crucial skills, the next generation to enter the workforce is instead learning to shout down opinions with which they don’t agree. Fast-forward five years and picture these moral crusaders in an office setting, arguing with human resources about how to properly acknowledge holidays or the need to establish speech codes.”

7:35: State Senator Herman Baertschiger Jr, talks with Bill this hour. We’ll get a Legislative update and other shenanigans going on in state government.
8:10: Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo, best-selling author talks with Bill today.
Abraham Lincoln is one of the most beloved presidents in American history. But should he be?
Dr. Thomas DiLorenzo argues that Lincoln was actually not very popular during his presidency, and in his new book: The Problem With Lincoln, he debunks the falsely, “saint-like” image of Lincoln, created by court historians and touted by popular culture and exposes the many justified reasons for his contemporaries’ derision:
- Lincoln overturned our original Constitutional order.
- He violated the rights of Americans both North and South.
- He massively inflated the Federal government.
- He plunged the nation into a wholly unnecessary war.
So, why did Lincoln do these things? We’ll discuss it with Dr. DiLorenzo.
And, you can pick up a copy of The Problem with Lincoln here.

6:35: Professor William Jacobson, Clinical Professor of Law and Founder of the Legal Insurrection Blog talks with Bill this morning.
Cornell faculty and alumni are waging a campaign to fire law professor William Jacobson, founder of the Legal Insurrection blog, just because he questioned the motives of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Two of America’s most prominent professors are calling for expanding civil rights protections to speech that could limit these abuses of wokeness.
Robert J. Delahunt, Professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law & John Yoo Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley and author of Defender-in-Chief: Donald Trump’s Fight for Presidential Power warn that cases of ideological discrimination on our nation’s campuses continue to emerge.
Professor Jacobson says that “there was a natural inclination, when colleagues and others at Cornell Law School twisted and distorted my words to try to isolate me and damage my reputation, to think it was about me. Once I went public with what was happening, and the isolation ended, it didn’t take long for me to realize that it’s not about me. It’s about the dozens of students and many hundreds of others who have written to me, thanking me for speaking up because they can’t. And it’s for the millions of others who have followed these events on TV, radio, social media, and websites, and for whom the fear of a career-ending false accusation of racism is too great, so they are bullied into silence.
A consistent theme is that they are grateful for the people who are able to give voice to what so many are thinking, but can’t say out loud given the current political climate. I was shocked by the outpouring. Yes, I expected support in the comment section from readers, but nothing approaching the groundswell that occurred. Something is happening below the media radar.
This evolution in my thinking was captured in an email from a Combat Tactics Instructor Pilot, accompanied by the iconic image from Tiananmen Square:

The State of Jefferson
By
Dennis Powers
Dating back for years, the residents of the border mountain counties in Southern Oregon and Northern California felt neglected by their respective Salem and Sacramento legislatures. Especially burdensome years ago was that this region needed roads and bridges in the area for access to their great supplies of timber, gold, copper, and other resources; however, their state capitals didn’t seem to be interested in repairing or building such access, but instead were funding campgrounds and infrastructure in the large cities with more votes. The solution: separate from their respective states and form a new one to stand on its own.
With different tries, the one now of greatest attention was the 1941 attempt to form their own state. Although the U.S. Constitution states that no new state can be formed from an existing one without the consent of both state legislatures and Congress, the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors started this one off with a grant of $100 to create the then 49th state. The goal was to finally secure federal aid for the repair and building of their roads and bridges.
The Yreka newspaper held a contest to name the new state, and the winner entered the name of “Jefferson”–after the third President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson–for which the author received $2. Delegates from the border counties met in Yreka on November 17, 1941, to discuss their approach and Yreka was agreed upon to be the temporary state capital.
Outside of Yreka, the State of Jefferson Citizens’ Committee erected every Thursday roadblocks on Highway 99 and handed out their “Proclamation of Independence”. These efforts made national headlines, including that of the San Francisco Chronicle which ran stories that competed with Germany’s war on Europe. A young reporter, Stanton Delaplane, traveled to the proclaimed State of Jefferson, and his articles on the movement earned him the Pulitzer Prize.
The committee elected Judge John Childs of Crescent City in Del Norte County on December 4th as the new state’s governor with a torchlight parade in Yreka, followed by his inauguration on the courthouse lawn. National media and newsreel companies were on hand to record this, as well as picturing the highway barricades.
Before the newsreels could run nationally, however, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, and war was declared. Everyone went to work for the war effort and the “State of Jefferson” secession movement came to an end. Owing to the World War II mobilization, roads and bridges were finally built to retrieve the area’s valuable minerals and timber—but even now residents feel the need for a rural freedom by creating a State of Jefferson, including unsuccessful attempts taken just a few years ago.

8:35: Abigail Shrier, author of: Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters chats with Bill.
FoxNews.com first broke the story that Amazon is refusing to allow paid advertising on its platform for Abigail Shrier’s upcoming book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters (Regnery; June 30, 2020). The reason? They don’t approve of the book’s position on an issue related to sexual orientation.
Abigail Shrier took up the issue in an opinion column from the Wall Street Journal, where she argues that Amazon allows sponsored ads for chest compression garments and books supporting medical and social transition for teens, but blocked sponsored ads for factual reporting on the dangers of this social contagion.
Abigail’s book unveils the peer contagion of trans-identifying teens. Parents are waking up to find their daughters at risk from “gender-affirming” educators and therapists who encourage hormone therapy and surgeries that can produce irreversible damage. Through in-depth interviews with the parents, girls, therapists, educators, readers will gather an idea of what this transgender craze is and just how many girls are affected.
In the last decade, an exceptionally dangerous peer contagion has surfaced. Under the influence of friends and social-media influencers, entire groups of female friends in colleges, high schools, and even middle schools across the country are coming out as “transgender” at alarming rates, defying all medical statistics. Girls who had never experienced any discomfort in their biological sex until they heard a coming-out story from a speaker at a school assembly or discovered the internet community of trans “influencers”—and rushed to undergo a faddish form of self-harm: irreversible gender treatment and surgery.
Abigail Shrier, a frequent contributor to the Wall Street Journal, has dug deep into this alarming peer contagion in her new book Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters. Shrier has conducted nearly 200 interviews of trans-identified girls, their agonized parents, public school teachers, promoters of gender ideology, pediatricians, psychiatrists, world-experts in gender dysphoria, transgender adults, gender therapists, endocrinologists and the surgeons who perform gender surgeries, as well as to the “detransitioners”—young women who bitterly regret what they have done to themselves—and shares their shocking and heart-wrenching stories.
Unsuspecting parents are awakening to find their daughters in thrall to hip trans YouTube stars and “gender-affirming” educators and therapists who push life-changing interventions on young girls—including medically unnecessary double mastectomies and puberty blockers that can cause permanent infertility. Coming out as transgender immediately boosts these girls’ social status, Shrier finds, but once they take the first steps of gender transition, it is not easy to walk back. Shrier offers urgently needed advice about how parents can protect their daughters.
A generation of girls is at risk. Abigail Shrier’s essential book will help you understand what the trans craze is and how you can inoculate your child against it—or how to retrieve her from this dangerous path.
