Big Tech is still censoring dissenting opinions, this time going after satirical news site “The Babylon Bee” and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

On Sunday, Twitter locked the account of “The Babylon Bee” after the outlet named transgender woman and U.S. Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine as its “Man of the Year”. “The Babylon Bee” CEO Seth Dillon tweeted that the account was locked for violating Twitter’s rules against “Hateful Content.” Twitter is imposing a 12-hour suspension, but that won’t kick in until the tweet is deleted. Dillon, however, said there are no plans to remove the tweet.

This comes on the heels of Twitter flagging tweets by Texas’ Attorney General Ken Paxton. Paxton tweeted about Levine being a man along with USA Today’s magazine cover touting Levine as one of its “women of the year.” He also tweeted a congratulations message to NCAA swimmer Emma Weyant for being the “real champion” after Weyant came in second place to transgender swimmer Lia Thomas. Paxton’s tweets were deemed “hateful content” by Twitter and can remain up, however Twitter users can only see the tweet and are unable to retweet or favorite it.

With these latest examples of Big Tech censorship, MRC Free Speech America’s CensorTrack database reached an important milestone as it continues to monitor the war that Big Tech companies have raged on free speech online. CensorTrack has now surpassed 3,500 total censorship cases documented by the MRC Free Speech America team.

And as for Hunter Biden’s laptop now being verified by the New York Times after Big Tech and the media censored the story, The Media Research Center polling from November 2020 found that Biden voters in key swing states were unaware of the scandal revolving around Biden’s son, Hunter. According to the poll, full awareness of the Hunter Biden scandal would have led 9.4% of Biden voters to abandon the Democratic candidate, flipping all six of the swing states he won to Trump, giving the President 311 electoral votes.

7:10 Professor Benjamin H. Barton, author of THE CREDENTIALED COURT: Inside the Cloistered, Elite World of American Justice by Professor Benjamin H. Barton starts by establishing just how different today’s Justices are from their predecessors. The book combines two massive empirical studies of every Justice’s background from John Jay to Amy Coney Barrett with short, readable bios of past greats to demonstrate that today’s Justices arrive on the Court with much narrower experiences than they once did.

More on Prof. Barton: https://law.utk.edu/directory/benjamin-barton/

The current Supreme Court is dominated by a particular type of lawyer. If Judge Brown Jackson is appointed, there will be seven Justices who attended an Ivy League University for undergraduate and eight Justices who went to Harvard or Yale Law School. She will be the fifth former Supreme Court clerk. She will be the sixth Justice to practice law at an elite D.C. law firm; she will be the eighth Justice to come from the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the fourth from the D.C. Circuit. From the time these Justices turned 18 and arrived at an ivy league college, they have lived remarkably similar lives.

Every Justice but Barrett attended either Harvard or Yale Law School, and four of the Justices were tenured professors at prestigious law schools. They also spent more time as Federal Appellate Court Judges than any previous Courts. These two jobs (tenured law professor and appellate judge) share two critical components: both jobs are basically lifetime appointments that involve little or no contact with the public at large. The modern Supreme Court Justices have spent their lives in cloistered and elite settings, the polar opposite of past Justices.

Anti-Woke Group Targets American Express For Racial Hiring Quotas, ‘Racism’ Training

An activist group dedicated to targeting race-based “woke” policies in major American companies has set its sights on the credit card company American Express, with an ad blitz calling out the company’s recent emphasis on race-based hiring.

As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, the group Color Us United announced on Monday that it would be launching an ad campaign against American Express, spending up to $500,000 on the public relations blitz calling out the company’s “harmful woke policies,” and branding the company as “Un-American Express.”

In recent years, American Express has focused more on hiring non-White employees, as well as forcing all current employees to undergo training which claims that “capitalism is racist.” Following the race riots in the summer of 2020, the company launched its own “Anti-Racism Initiative” and hired outside consulting to host training sessions on “White privilege” for its employees.

A handful of anonymous American Express employees, including current and former workers, have said that the company’s senior leadership has been regularly discriminating against White employees when considering new hires and promotions. One employee was told by an executive that it would be “very rare” for the company to promote a White person to a leadership role.

“How can a company like American Express claim the ‘American’ part of its name if it consistently drives policies that are incredibly un-American—like promoting the idea that ‘capitalism is racist’ and offering bonuses for people to hire by race?” said Kenny Xu, president of Color Us United.

Lithia Water: In Bottles and Fountains

By Dennis Powers

With over forty bubbling mineral springs in and around the City of Ashland, it was natural that people would commercialize this. Dating back to 1891, John Wagner (of Wagner Creek fame) built a bottling business a few miles east of Ashland. Ordering crown-top bottles from a St. Louis concern, Wagner was the first to use these in Southern Oregon. He later purchased bottles made in Berkeley, California, with the words “Siskiyou Natural Mineral Water” stylized on them; he delivered these by wagon throughout the region or by railroad to San Francisco and Portland.

This mineral water was drunk, soaked in, and its vapors even inhaled at baths, all due to the believed medicinal values. Lithia water is mineralized water with lithium salts, such as lithium carbonate or lithium chloride. Having these natural springs around Ashland was rarealthough other locations were in Sarasota Springs (New York) and throughout Georgia were also well known.

With Ashland’s near equidistance between San Francisco and Portland, Southern Pacific Railroad championed the city’s mineral springs and stated they were classified as “Lithia, Soda, and Sulphur Springs.” The owner and editor of the Ashland Tidings, Bert Greer, is credited with bringing about the building of a system that brought the Lithia waters to town.

His support resulted in the residents passing a $175,000 bond issue (a large amount then) in 1914, of which $100,000 ultimately went to build a pipeline system from the “Lithia Springs” well house and pump, near Ashland’s present airport and three miles east of the city, to a bottling station in Lithia Park; most of the remaining moneys went to develop the park. Wagner had closed his bottling plant in 1913.

Located roughly parallel to a “Mineral Water Pavilion” and upstream from the original bandshell, the spot fed Lithia fountains in the park and at the railroad depot to greet new arrivals. The mineral water was also mixed, carbonated, and bottled for sale. The Lithia water was highly concentrated in different minerals, including salt.

A 1915 plaque stated that the following was present in milligrams per liter: sodium chloride (4545), sodium bicarbonate (2456), potassium bicarborate (280), lithium bicarbonate (154), calcium bicarbonate (1404), and magnesium bicarbonate (1153). A recent analysis put the prime components at chlorides, sodium, calcium, boron, and lithium. (One would need to drink 150 liters of the water to meet a doctor’s standard dose of lithium as a “mood stabilizer.) With this composition, one can see why drinking this water was not considered to be pleasant, either then or now.

The entire project proved unprofitable and was a failure, as the mineral water business dried up during and after World War I due to changing tastesand the depression ended what was left. The “Central Bottling Station” was abandoned; although used briefly as a Boy Scout headquarters, the building was ultimately demolished. All that is left of the bottling center is a concrete slab after climbing a steep, staircase to the left when one is walking through the trees from Lithia Park’s playground on Ashland Creek’s east bank. After the slab, another staircase rises from there to South Pioneer Street. The remaining staircases were nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places and are part of the Lithia Park Historic District.

A two-inch iron pipe today still carries the mineral water to the fountains on Ashland’s central plaza and nearby Lithia Parkalthough little else remains of these endeavorswith the visitors today carrying their drinking water in plastic bottles.
