President Biden on Wednesday announced he’s canceling $10,000 in student debt for Americans making under $125,000 a year. Additionally, Pell Grant recipients making under $125,000 will be eligible for an additional $10,000 in forgiveness.
The nation’s federal student debt now tops $1.6 trillion after ballooning for years. More than 43 million Americans have federal student debt, with almost a third owing less than $10,000 and more than half owing less than $20,000, according to the latest federal data.
But there’s no such thing as debt forgiveness. The debt remains, it’s simply being transferred to taxpayers, who will now be forced to foot the $300 billion bill.

Despite the mainstream media trying to gaslight the American public into believing there was no election fraud in 2020, a recent poll by Rasmussen and The National Pulse revealed that 52% of Likely U.S. voters believe it is at least somewhat likely that cheating affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and 50% of voters believe it is somewhat likely there will be widespread cheating that will affect the outcome of this fall’s congressional elections.

Ever since Delaware County residents Gregory Stenstrom and Leah Hoopes witnessed the massive election fraud perpetrated in their home county on November 3rd, 2020, they have made it their mission to expose the fraud and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Eagle Point

As settlers made their way towards the Willamette Valley over the Applegate Trail, numbers stopped in Southern Oregon and decided to start their new lives here. With the Jacksonville gold rush as a magnet, pioneers settled in the Eagle Point area in the 1850s to sell their produce to the miners. The Englishman James J. Fryer acquired his property on Little Butte Creek in 1852; he established a general store and planted a fruit orchard. Considered to be the “Father of Eagle Point,” Fryer caused the settlement to grow around his operations.
The area became another center for agricultural production and supplied food—along with Sams Valley to one side and the Medford-Talent area further south—to the valley. In 1872, the Snowy Butte Mill (now named the Butte Creek Mill) was constructed along the banks of Little Butte Creek. It drew farmers from around the region, as wagons lined the dirt road to the mill to have their grain ground into flour.
Constructed of local pine trees, the four-story, 5,500-square-foot structure had two, four-foot diameter, 1,400-pound millstones that ground the grain; quarried just outside of Paris, the huge stones were shipped around Cape Horn and brought by wagon train from Crescent City to the Rogue Valley. Water was diverted from the creek into the mill’s basement where the water’s weight turned a turbine that powered the equipment.
As the fertile land drew farmers and ranchers, eagles soared overhead and nested high up on a bluff that overlooked the town. In 1877, John Mathews named the town Eagle Point after the butte with its eagles. The advent of the railroad along the Rogue River limited Eagle Point, as the line passed through Gold Hill, Central Point, and Medford, on its way to Ashland. Farmers had to bring their products to these stations for shipment.
Accordingly, the town didn’t have a commercial center until the early 1900s, when the Pacific and Eastern Railroad arrived in the early 1900s. The city then incorporated in 1911 and the home to three hotels with its livery stable, blacksmith shop, a few saloons, and rowdy dance halls. Dependent on the fortunes of the timber industry, the town ebbed and flowed with this industry, as the railroad spur served the Medford mills.
Although the construction and operation of Camp White during World War II at what’s now White City was an economic shot-in-the-arm, afterwards this stimulus ended when the camp was torn down. The large available blocks of land brought about its rebirth, however, as seen in the 18-hole championship golf course—designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.—that came into being in 1995 with housing developments clustered about. Eagle Point today is a retirees’ destination and a commuter center to jobs in the area, whether it is the local Walmart or in Medford.
The Butte Creek Mill is on the National Register of Historic Places as the last water-powered grist mill commercially operating this side of the Mississippi. After a fire on Christmas morning in 2015, however, burned the beloved landmark to the ground, the Butte Creek Mill Foundation was formed and became the owner of Butte Creek Mill. The Foundation is currently engaged in substantial fundraising (successful) and the reconstruction of the Mill in a historically accurate manner. It is looking to formally open in “late 2022”.
Seen from Highway 62 and two miles north of Eagle Point, the “Old Wood House” is certainly a draw. Owing to the efforts of Skip Geer, this 1870’s homestead has been preserved in exhibiting what life was like then. Due to its old, weathered condition and Mt. McLoughlin’s background, the Wood House is the most photographed and artist-painted rendering in the Pacific Northwest.
Although orchards and forest lands decades ago stretched as far as one could see, life now is easier and more comfortable. Seeing what life used to be, however, brings about a feeling of thanks to our forefathers. Still growing, Eagle Point is near 10,000 now in population.

How the FBI Undercounts Armed Citizen Responders to Mass Killers – and Media Play Along

The shooting that killed three people and injured another at a Greenwood, Indiana, mall on July 17 drew broad national attention because of how it ended – when 22-year-old Elisjsha Dicken, carrying a licensed handgun, fatally shot the attacker. While Dicken was praised for his courage and skill – squeezing off his first shot 15 seconds after the attack began, from a distance of 40 yards – much of the news coverage drew from FBI-approved statistics to assert that armed citizens almost never stop such attackers. Evidence compiled by the organization I run, the Crime Prevention Research Center, and others suggest that the FBI undercounts, by an order of more than three, the number of instances in which armed citizens have thwarted such attacks, saving untold numbers of lives. Although those many news stories about the Greenwood shooting also suggested that the defensive use of guns might endanger others, there is no evidence that these acts have harmed innocent victims. FAIR Analysis: 4.9 Million Illegal Aliens Have Crossed our Borders Since President Biden Took Office
(August 16, 2022, Washington, D.C.) — The Federation for American Immigration Reform issued the following statement, as well as a deeper dive into the growing border crisis, based on data quietly released yesterday by the Biden administration:
Earlier this month, President Biden took credit for the July inflation rate being “only” 8.5 percent. Now that July border numbers are finally public, the White House may take credit for the fact that “only” 199,976 illegal aliens crossed our border, down from 207,416 in June. A minor drop in border encounters is not encouraging. Traditionally, numbers drop in the hottest summer months, and last month’s figures actually represent a 325 percent increase over the average number of July apprehensions under the Trump administration. More significantly, July numbers bring the total of illegal aliens crossing our borders since President Biden took office to 4.9 million, including some 900,000 “gotaways” who eluded apprehension and have since disappeared into American communities.
“Roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Ireland has illegally entered the United States in the 18 months President Biden has been in office, with many being released into American communities. In that time, the Biden administration has blamed an unprecedented surge of illegal immigration on all sorts of external factors, except their own sabotage of our nation’s immigration laws. The endless flow of illegal aliens and the incursion of lethal narcotics pouring across our border will not end until this administration demonstrates a willingness to enforce our laws,” said Dan Stein, president of FAIR.
FAIR Border Snapshot for July 2022
- Since President Biden took office, nearly 4.9 million illegal aliens have crossed our borders.
o This includes the 3.9 million nationwide total reported by CBP – which includes a whopping 3.4 million at our Southwest border – as well as approximately 900,000 gotaways who have entered the country undetected per agency sources.
- CBP had 199,976 encounters at the Southwest border in July 2022, including 134,362 single adults, 51,822 family units, and 13,299 unaccompanied minors.
o This is a 325 percent increase from the average number of July apprehensions under President Trump.
o CBP has encountered more illegal aliens in just 10 months of FY 2022 than in the entirety of FY 2021.
o July was the 17th straight month with more than 150,000 encounters.
- CBP reports that 10 individuals on the FBI’s terror watchlist were apprehended between ports of entry at the Southwest border in July, bringing the total for the current fiscal year to 66.
- The Biden administration continues its crusade to end the Title 42 public health authority, despite extending other COVID-related national emergencies.
o In July, CBP expelled only 37 percent of illegal aliens using Title 42, a 7 percent drop compared to last month.
- 2,071 pounds of fentanyl and 12,989 pounds of methamphetamine were seized at the southern border in July, with much more getting through because Border Patrol agents are busy processing illegal aliens.
- The amount of fentanyl seized in July is equivalent to 469 million lethal doses.

The Left’s idea of diversity is only skin deep

President Joe Biden has repeatedly said he wants to make his administration “look like America.” His implication is that true equality isn’t possible until the federal government represents every single demographic and group in the country.
But this message is exactly what’s wrong with the diversity, equity, and inclusion narrative being sold across the nation. True diversity isn’t predicated on appearances; it’s rooted in an equality of opportunity that values individuals for who they are and what they can offer, not what they look like. The Left, however, wants a diversity that is skin deep.
The Biden administration isn’t alone. Many corporations have tried to make their offices “look like America” as well. For example, American Express offered 15% bonuses to recruit more black employees. Google promised that 30% of its leadership positions would be filled by “underrepresented minorities” by 2025. At least 37 CEOs of other top companies have pledged to hire a total of 1 million black Americans by 2030.
The goal of these programs is to make offices, universities, and even bureaucratic agencies proportionally representative of American census data. That means slightly more than half of the positions should be filled by women, roughly 13% should be black, nearly 19% should be Hispanic, and so on.
But here’s the problem: America doesn’t even “look like America.”
For example, in Mississippi, more than 37% of the population is black. North Dakota, meanwhile, has a black population that hovers around 3%. If Mississippi employers were to try and make their businesses “look like America,” they’d have to turn away roughly two out of every three black candidates, while North Dakota’s wouldn’t even be able to hit 10%.
And who’s to say where we draw the line as to which groups should be represented proportionally? Does the Biden administration need 5.7% of its employees to be Asian Americans, or should it be more specific to have an exact percentage of employees of Japanese, Korean, or Chinese descent?
What about gender? Alternative gender identities are becoming more common by the month, but the fractions of the population who identify as atypical genders are so slim that hardly any company would be able to represent all of them.
It’s easy to see how ridiculous the Left’s goal is.
The reality is that not every group of Americans is interested in the same thing. There’s a reason you don’t typically see burly, bearded men working in makeup stores or petite women signing up to work in the logging industry. And that reason isn’t sexism — it’s a personal choice.
The same can be said of the presidential administration. Just because Biden feels he must have proportional representation in every corner of his administration does not mean that minority workers in the country are going to flock to whatever bureaucratic position he needs filled — nor should we want that.
Our woke leaders have completely abandoned the value of individual freedom and merit. Individuals have different interests. They pursue different careers and opportunities — not because of systemic racism, as the Left likes to claim, but because the experiences and values with which they’ve been raised lead them down different paths.
Moreover, not every individual is qualified to do every job — and cutting merit out of the equation just to hit a racial quota is a mark against the republic’s foundational ethos: e pluribus unum. Without the one, the many fall apart. Making America “look like America” at the cost of sacrificing the most qualified people because of their skin color is not a worthwhile goal.
The U.S. Census should not be used as a hiring guide. Individuals should be left to pursue whatever interests them in areas where they’re qualified. And if that doesn’t match the color-by-number the Biden administration wants, then so be it.

The Town of Kerby

When driving on the Redwood Highway (Highway 199) from Grants Pass to Crescent City, one passes the tiny places of Wilderville and Selma before coming to Kerby, a short distance before Cave Junction. This old hamlet has about 500 hardy folks from garage mechanics and redwood sculpturers to those who man the Kerbyville Museum.
Trailing the Illinois River to there, the Redwood Highway basically follows an old wagon trail that led to the port of Crescent City. The discovery of gold at Sailor Diggings in 1852 along the river brought the first settlers to the Illinois Valley, which was then part of Jackson County. In 1855, James Kerby homesteaded in the valley and one year later, set up its post office as the first postmaster. With the town of Kerbyville named after him, his chosen location was on the main route from the sea and California into the newly discovered gold fields.
As miners, merchants, and their families searched for new and easier gold finds, Kerbyville became more populated, especially since it was a stagecoach stop on the way. When Josephine County was carved from the western part of Jackson County in 1856, Sailor Diggings (renamed Waldo) became the first county seat—but only for one year. When its gold began playing out, Kerbyville in an 1857 election became the new county center due to the relocations and its proximity. The county officers then included three county commissioners, sheriff, auditor, treasurer, probate judge, and coroner, along with a U.S. District Court presence.
The Oregon Territorial Legislature another year later renamed it as “Napoleon”—possibly due to an influential landowner who greatly admired Napoleon III, the then ruler of France and grandson of the Empress Josephine—but the name soon changed back to Kerbyville. The town later became known by its short version of Kerby.
When the railroad came through Grants Pass, however, this important development brought this city into the forefront, and in 1886 it became the new county seat (which continues to today). With much of the area’s commercial activities centered on gold mining, farming, and supplying provisions to the miners, the area began to decline in the late-1850s to early-1860s when the precious gold became more difficult to find. Residents left Kerby, as well, and the good times came to an end.
In 1879 at a sheriff’s auction, Mr. William Nauke bought for $5 nearly two acres of land in Kerby and had a house built for his family. It also served as a general store, post office, and stage stop on the road to the coast. Today, the Kerbyville Museum is part of the Nauke house property. The museum has exhibits depicting the pioneer days, the Illinois Valley in the 1900s, and early Native Americans life—including displays of baskets, grinding tools and stones, blankets, arrow and spear points, pottery, and many other artifacts. The property includes an early-day log schoolhouse built on Sucker Creek—and with the all-important outhouse.
Call ahead and see what their hours are; plus, whether it is named “Kerby” or “Kerbyville”, you are at the right place. The unincorporated community of Kerby is still about the same size it was when being the county seat over 150 years ago, and the museum shows what this looked like. Kerby still exists, but it’s now a tiny suburb of Cave Junction.
