6:35 Community Researcher Mr. X joins the show. We talk about the interesting coincidence of fire breaking out in Salt Creek and Upper Applegate, areas targeted by “Green Collaborative” groups and well-funded by the Biden Administration. These lands had “let it burn plans” already in place. Are the groups and partners bypassing County control and its intent to not have ANY prescribed fire conducted in summer fire season? Here are links to sources that Ed referenced in the talk.

“Rogue Basin Partnership covers all the territory and resource programs that SOFRC does not. We both share an understanding of the connection between forest management and aquatic, botanical and riparian resources and we are working to strengthen those connections. One of the RFFI projects is in Salt Creek where RPB member organizations have strong ties and have done a lot of good work; this presents opportunities to strengthen the connected management between upland and aquatic.”

8:10 Keith Hanson, CEO of QUX Technologies, www.QUX.tv and veteran law enforcement expert.  Keith Hanson available to discuss California targeting law-abiding gun owners, while other states have taken measures to prevent that. \

Keith’s take and how the QUX technology he promotes can help lock away your personal information.

*The vast majority of the people whose purchases are being tracked by this are responsible, law-abiding gun owners. They should not be subjected to this sort of treatment.

*Blue states like California and Colorado have embraced this, but red states have been firmly opposed, showing a stark divide on Second Amendment rights.

*QUX is in the process of unveiling tech that will financially privatize these transactions, which will also meet all state and federal legal requirements.

The Major Point: Keith can talk about why anyone who cares about gun rights needs to be concerned about this, and how QUX is legally fighting back through technology to greatly reduce this risk.

About QUX:

QUX Technologies, Inc™ has designed a revolutionary new box which allows users to host everything from TV subscriptions, payment and digital wallet platforms, all media apps, and merchant store hosting, with absolute security not offered anywhere else. QUX maintains a “Know Your Customer” (KYC) standard designed to protect financial institutions against fraud, corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing. QUX Technologies, Inc™’s KYC policy involves several steps to 1) establish customer identity; 2) understand the nature of user’s activities and qualify that sources of funds are legitimate; and 3) assess money laundering risks associated with users.

Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus have agreed to a blockbuster merger that combines the nation’s two dominant luxury retailers. The deal also includes Amazon. Saks owner HBC will acquire Neiman Marcus for more than two and a half billion dollars and comes as both chains grappled with a year’s long slowdown in luxury spending.

“This is just the latest development in a struggling brick and mortar retail environment,” says Business Analyst and president of Business Consulting Firm ‘7 Stage Advisors’ in Butler, NJ Carl Gould (see short bio below). “It’s no secret that retail, with the possible exception of stores carrying lower end options, has been affected and will continue to be affected by the ease of online purchases and resale sites.”

So, is the merging of online giants and established luxury brands the future of retail?

The Jackson County Fair

By Dennis Powers

State and county fairs began in the early-to-mid-1800s so rural families could share their experiences, including showing the best farm practices, seeds and crops, livestock, and equipment. The first state fair took place in 1841 on the populated east coast in Syracuse, New York. Other states followed.

These events were not only where farmers and ranchers met to talk “shop,” but also where everyone could see the latest inventions, whether electric lights, generators, radios, TVs, or even washing machines. Fairs nowincluding Jackson Countyhave arcade games, petting zoos, amusement centers, well-known singers, concerts, entertainment, and more in addition to the traditional 4-H and FFA (“Future Farmers of America”) exhibits.

The first Jackson County Fair was named the “Agricultural Show” and held in October 1859 in Jacksonville, which was the same year Oregon became a state. The Jackson County Fair Association was organized in 1872, celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2009, and is the longest running county fair in Oregon.

The first fairgrounds were on south Oakdale in Medford: a half-mile horse racing track was inside the one-mile car-racing track, its grandstands facing east off Highway 99 where Walmart now is. With complaints due to running its automobile races (which jeopardized the inside Newell Barber Airfield) and needing a better location, the Fair moved in 1922 to where the Medford Armory now is. It changed later to the present 245-acre location at the Expo in Central Point.

Country fairs were very important before TV, theme parks, and the Internet. With races held before on everything from autos and airplanes to horses, the 1920s before the Great Depression were the Fair’s heydaysand the place to be seen by the well-dressed during the “Roaring Twenties.”  Well-known drivers raced Duesenbergs, Millers, and overhead-valve Fords with special, promotional license plates. The famous Barney Oldfield waived the checkered flag in one year at the Jackson County Fair.

Commercial development along I-5 into the early 1970s crimped the Fair’s ability to expand, especially for rodeo and equestrian events. Jackson County sold the property in 1974 and moved to its current 245-acre Expo location site. In 1998, the Red and Eleanor Isola Memorial Fund donated $700,000 to build the present 37,000 square-foot equestrian arena. With a 1,500 seating capacity, the Isola Memorial Arena and facility became the second-largest covered arena in the West next to one in Reno, Nevada.

Held in mid-July, the overall Jackson County Fair attendance ranges from 70,000 to 85,000 in years past. After cancelling the 2020 fair due to the pandemic, the Expo came back in 2021 and attendance was “near 70,000”. Last year in 2023, some 71,000 attended the six-day fair with estimates now for 80,000 this year.

Numerous events have been added over the years to the traditional farm orientation to include rodeos and concerts, stock shows, and trade shows to car, spa, and RV sales. This year, the 2024 fair is between July 16-21rst with the carnival, 4-H judging, entertainers as Josh Turner and Clay Walker, as well as past events. Plus, free admission for kids 12 and under (courtesy of the West Family Foundation), free concerts in the Bi-Mart Amphitheater, and free admission for everyone on Sunday (the 21rst) courtesy of Ray’s Food Place.

This grand-daddy of Oregon fairs has more than held its own over the yearsand has certainly changed with the times.
