An Oregon judge is in trouble for, among other things, having an unsecured gun in his chamber. What Kevin and I talk about is how bat guano crazy the state of Oregon is about “safe storage laws” for your firearms. And how easily you could be caught up in trouble over these laws. Check it all out here: https://www.oregonfirearms.org/oregons-absurd-lock-up-laws

How Birthright Citizenship Will Harm the U.S.
By Louie Gohmert, Fmr. Texas Congressman
Last week, in a 6-to-3 decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Trump v. Barbara that automatic birthright citizenship is a constitutionally protected right under the 14th Amendment. The court’s majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, affirmed that anyone born on U.S. soil and “subject to the jurisdiction” thereof is automatically an American citizen at birth, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. I have read, highlighted, underlined and tagged the Birthright Citizenship opinion; and as a former Assistant District Attorney, trial lawyer, District Judge, Chief Justice of Texas 12th Court of Appeals and member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee for 18 years, I am ready willing and able to give quite a scathing review of the Chief Justice Roberts majority opinion.

With extreme heat hitting much of the United States and Europe, it’s important to correct the “climate change” narrative. That’s why June’s Climate Realism fact check was just released.
- Peer-reviewed Lancet researchshows cold consistently kills far more people worldwide than heat, a fact that never makes the summer coverage.
- Europe’s current heat wave has been declaredthe “worst ever” based on a rapid attribution study rushed out for the news cycle, not on long-term observational records.
- Reuters is already blamingclimate change for an El Niño that hasn’t even formed yet, pre-writing 2027’s “hottest year ever” stories a year in advance.

7:10 Marla Estes – BETTER TOGETHER FILM FESTIVAL COMES TO SOUTHERN OREGON
ASHLAND/MEDFORD, OR — This July, local audiences will have the opportunity to participate in the third annual Better Together Film Festival, a nationwide initiative that uses film and conversation to foster understanding across differences.
Hosted locally by Building Bridgers, the festival will feature two documentary screenings followed by facilitated community discussions:
- MY OMAHA — Tuesday, July 7, 2026
Medford Public Library, Large Meeting Room
6:00 PM - THE CONSERVATIVES — Wednesday, July 15, 2026
Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library, Ashland
7:00 PM
MY OMAHA follows filmmaker Nick Beaulieu as he returns to Omaha, Nebraska, seeking to better understand his conservative father and the political and cultural divides that have shaped their relationship. The film explores the human stories behind today’s political labels and the challenges of staying connected across differences.
THE CONSERVATIVES, directed by Nadia Gill, explores the lives and perspectives of conservatives whose views on environmental stewardship and climate issues challenge common political assumptions. The film invites viewers to move beyond stereotypes and encounter a more nuanced picture of people often viewed through a partisan lens.
Both screenings will be followed by facilitated conversations led by Marla Estes, founder of Building Bridgers, an Ashland-based initiative dedicated to helping people navigate political and cultural differences with greater curiosity, understanding, and complexity.
“People often assume they already know what those on the other side think and why,” says Estes. “These films offer something rarer: an opportunity to listen, understand, and discover the human stories beneath political labels.”
Building Bridgers creates opportunities for people with differing viewpoints to explore difficult issues together through films, dialogue, and educational programs. Its mission is not to tell people what to think, but to help them understand complex issues — and one another — more clearly.
The Better Together Film Festival is organized by the Listen First Coalition, a network of more than 550 organizations working to reduce polarization and strengthen trust, belonging, and constructive dialogue across America.
Both events are free and open to the public.

Erickson Air-Crane
By Dennis Powers
Born in 1935, second-generation logger, Jack Erickson, grew up in an Oregon timber family and learned to fly in 1953. He managed and successfully expanded his family’s timber operations while recognizing the use of helicopters in the timber industry.
Leasing in 1971 an S-64E Skycrane helicopter from Sikorsky Aircraft, he pioneered a new way to transport logs out of forests. Jack renamed his “Erickson Lumber Company” to “Erickson Air-Crane” with his success and a new business. Numerous small worldwide operations were experimenting then with helicopter logging, but with little success due to the high cost of flying the craft.
Looking like a huge “Praying Mantis,” the S-64E has a 6-bladed main rotor, can lift over 10-tons, and its middle had a huge-empty space for cargo. Understanding the Skycrane’s advantages and limitations, Erickson used his years of logging experience to develop a system and be financially successful. It’s a flying crane without a fuselage for internal loads.
One year later, he purchased his first S-64E, followed soon by three more. Erickson developed applications other than timber harvesting. In 1972, the company used the S-64 for powerline-tower construction with major utilities. Over the years, Erickson throughout the U.S. and internationally carried large HVAC units, as well as lifting and installing ski lifts.
In the 1975 construction of the CN Tower in Ontario, Canada, the Aircrane carried and placed the 7-ton sections comprising the antenna and weather-metering systems at the top of the 1,850-foot-plus structure. Another unusual feat was pulling in 1982 a hoverbarge over snow, ice, and water. The company in 1983 brought in large construction equipment to build a 9-mile access road in remote Alaska. Ten years later, an air-crane removed and replaced the “Statue of Freedom” on top of the U.S. Capitol Dome in Washington D.C. for the renovations.
In 1992, Erickson Air-Crane acquired the rights from Sikorsky Aircraft to be the manufacturer, repairer, and parts supplier for all S-64s. That same year, it designed a 2,650-gallon tank with computer-controlled tank doors, a “Hover Snorkel,” and a ram scoop for firefighting. A versatile and powerful heavy-lifting helicopter, Erickson made over 1300 changes to the design over the years for improvement (including composite rotors) and different uses.
In 2007, ZM Equity Partners acquired the company and moved the corporate headquarters to Portland from the operations outside Central Point; ZM sold off portions of its holdings in 2012 to enable Erickson Air-Crane to trade publicly on the NASDAQ and used the proceeds in paying down debt.
With its main facilities in Central Point, the support for its S-64 continued thorough out the world. Its international subsidiaries operated in timber harvesting, fire suppression, and heavy construction. Its European subsidiary with headquarters in Florence, Italy, was the only European certified and authorized S-64 Aircrane operator.
The company announced in March 2013 that it was purchasing Evergreen Helicopters in McMinnville, Oregon, for $250 million, payable in cash (75%) and the rest in Erickson notes and stock. Evergreen was an international cargo airline that owned and operated a fleet of Boeing 747s; an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility; an aircraft ground handling company; and an aircraft sales and leasing company.
Borrowing heavily to finance the Evergreen purchase, Erickson was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and emerged in 2019 under private ownership. With operations located from Canada, Peru, and Italy to China, South Korea, the Philippines (and more), its near-60 fleet involved “fixed wing” (i.e., Beechcraft 1900s), “medium lifting” (Bell and Airbus medium-sized helicopters), and “heavy lifting” (S-64s) craft–for both military and civilian applications.
Its current fleet of 15 S-64 heavy-lift helicopters works globally, primarily on fire-protection, oil & gas, powerline, logging, and infrastructure construction missions. (Erickson gives each of its S-64s (with its orange color) an individual name, the best-known being “Elvis”, used in fighting fires in Australia alongside “The Incredible Hulk” and “Isabelle”.)
Its operation over the years prior to 2024 has been relatively stable with some $250-plus million revenues, 800-plus employees, and its main operating facilities in Central Point. In 2024, however, an Atlanta company, Helicopter Express, purchased Erickson’s aerial firefighting operations business and its S-64s fleet; Erickson’s other business operations continued on their own, including its maintenance, repair, and OEM business units. This allowed it to focus solely on supply chain, manufacturing, and global fleet support while Helicopter Express operates the heavy-lift helicopters on its contracts, including federal firefighting operations.
His love of aviation is seen in his 28-craft Erickson Aircraft Collection–from a B-17 WWII bomber, P-51 Mustang, and Messerschmitt ME-109 to a PBY 5A Catalina and a Vought F4U-7 Corsair—all available to be seen at the Madras Municipal Airport in the high desert of Central Oregon, a former WWII B-17 training base. He was also elected to the prestigious Living Legends of Aviation with numerous aviation historical celebrities. Jack Erickson founded very successful businesses that are operating well today.
