THE TROUBLE WITH “NORMALCY BIAS”

 

Reading about the tragic deaths of many in the Buffalo and E. Coast storms the other week. Many had no travel preps of any kind, light clothing, Crocs instead of shoes, no blankets, water, nothing. Normalcy bias kills. I see it daily even going to a supermarket. Guy walks in the store in December, light shorts, flip flops, tee shirt, no coat because everything is always okay….until it’s not.

We know how math works, how things are built, how financial prudence leads to sound money and stable prices. We understand the real world and how to live prosperous and fulfilling lives. We even know how to define a “woman.”
