6:30 Sam Bourgi is a finance analyst and researcher at InvestorsObserver, bringing over 13 years of expertise in financial markets, economics, and monetary policy.

InvestorsObserver analyzed the Google search interest changes across all 50 U.S. states from September 2024 to September 2025 for terms related to “gold price,” “NVIDIA,” and “OpenAI.”

The goal was to understand where Americans are focusing their attention – whether on the safe haven of gold amid economic uncertainty or the promise and risk of artificial intelligence.

Key findings from our report:

  • People searched for gold prices more than ever before in every state, nearly doubling on average. This is the most consistent interest across the country compared to popular AI companies.
  • In 24 states, gold searches more than doubled. The biggest jumps happened in North Carolina, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Washington, and West Virginia.
  • Searches for OpenAI grew a lot on average, but the pattern was all over the map – South Carolina saw more than triple the interest, while Montana’s interest dropped significantly.
  • Interest in NVIDIA grew much slower and was more uneven. Only North Dakota saw more than 100% growth, while some states even saw a drop.
  • In 15 states, mostly smaller or coastal ones, more people were searching for AI-related topics than gold, showing where AI excitement is really taking off.

7:35 Mike Krebs in studio to make the case for MANDATORY voting, how it could help creating better-informed citizens, and vastly increasing voter participation. This sprung from Thursday’s show and my expression of irritation at only 28% voter turnout for the 15-238 Creekside Quarter measure. The government likes to say “The City Residents have spoken, but really only 15% of voters approved it.

8:10 New York Times Best-Selling Author TOM CLAVIN – www.TomClavin.com

Tom Clavin’s latest, RUNNING DEEP: Bravery, Survival, and the True Story of the Deadliest Submarine of World War II takes us deep below the ocean’s surface to the dangerous – terrifying! – world of submarine warfare in World War II.

Clavin profiles The USS Tang, the submarine that outfought all other boats in “The Silent Service,” and its heroic skipper, Richard O’Kane. O’Kane was a true war hero, albeit an overlooked one, who finally gets his due.

RUNNING DEEP is a riveting undersea drama, the remarkable story of a ship that changed the course of the war in the Pacific Theater. Because the mortality rate on subs was SIX TIMES higher than that of surface ship sailors, duty was volunteer only. The men who served under O’Kane were equally heroic and self-sacrificing. They spearheaded the offensive rebound against the until then successful Japanese.

After destroying an entire Japanese convoy in October of 1944, the Tang was mortally wounded by its own defective torpedo. Just 9 of her 87 man crew survived, only to be imprisoned in a Japanese “torture camp.” There we also meet Louis Zamperini and Pappy Boyington and other American heroes. O’Kane, tortured both by sadistic guards and by the loss of his men, weighted 90 pounds upon liberation. He was later bestowed the Medal of Honor by President Harry Truman.
