Grants Pass Seeks Ways To Tackle Budget Issues

GRANTS PASS’ CITY COUNCIL STILL SEEMS RELUCTANT TO RAISE THE PUBLIC SAFETY LEVY. THE DAILY COURIER REPORTS THAT THOUGH THE CITY FACES A $1.1 MILLION DOLLAR SHORTFALL AND A POLICE/FIRE BUDGET GAP AND SHOULD THE LEVY STAY THE SAME, CUTS MAY BE INEVITABLE. THE COUNCIL HAS ALSO LOOKED AT THE POSSIBILITY OF A PUBLIC SAFETY UTILITY FEE, WHICH COULD BE AS MUCH AS $3.58 A MONTH, IF THE LEVY STAYS THE SAME.
