Legal Battle Over Property for Water Treatment Plant Continues

THE BATTLE ISN’T OVER BETWEEN THE CITY OF GRANTS PASS, AND THE OWNERS OF COPELAND SAND & GRAVEL. THE CITY WANTS TO TAKE POSSESSION OF A CHUNK OF THE PROPERTY TO BUILD A NEW WATER TREATMENT PLANT. THE DAILY COURIER SAYS THAT LAWYERS FOR THE CITY FILED A MOTION MONDAY, ARGUING IMMEDIATE POSSESSION SHOULD BE GRANTED IN FAVOR OF THE CITY. THE PROPERTY IS PRIVATELY OWNED BY THE SAND AND GRAVEL COMPANY, AND HOUSES THREE OTHER BUSINESSES AS WELL.

Drive-by Shooting In West Medford

A WEST MEDFORD NEIGHBORHOOD WAS ROCKED BY A DRIVE-BY SHOOTING LAST NIGHT. MEDFORD POLICE SAY IT ALL WENT DOWN JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT NEAR MAIN AND COLUMBUS. POLICE FOUND SHELL CASINGS AND OTHER CLUES, AND THAT A HOUSE IN THE AREA WAS HIT BY AT LEAST 4 BULLETS. NOBODY WAS HURT.

Grants Pass Man Acquitted of Aggravated Murder

A GRANTS PASS MAN HAS BEEN AQUITTED OF AGGRAVATED MURDER CHARGES FROM A DOUBLE SHOOTING ON THANKSGIVING NIGHT OF 2018. A JUDGE SAID THAT TREVOR GILMORE WAS ACTING IN SELF-DEFENSE WHEN HE SHOT AND KILLED JUSTIN SEVERNAK. HOWEVER, GILMORE WAS FOUND GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER IN THE DEATH OF CHRIS LYON. GILMORE IS FACING 10 YEARS BEHIND BARS.

Shooting Incident In Rural Josephine County

THE JOSEPHINE COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT A SHOOTING INVESTIGATION IS NOW UNDERWAY. THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS THAT YESTERDAY, AROUND 8:01 AM, DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO AN AREA NEAR THE 700 BLOCK OF WEST PICKET CREEK ROAD, WHERE A PERSON REPORTED THAT THEY WERE SHOT AT, RESULTING IN A MINOR HAND INJURY. INVESTIGATORS FROM THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT HAVE TAKEN THE LEAD ON THE INVESTIGATION.
