Former Sheriff's Deputy Faces Misconduct

A FORMER JACKSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTY IS LOOKING AT PROBATION AND A PRETTY HEFTY FINE. THE COUNTY D.A. SAYS THAT 2019, SEXUALLY EXPLICIT PHOTOS OF THE DEPUTY WERE FOUND, OF HIM IN UNIFORM IN A PATROL CAR. THE MAN PLEADED GUILTY TO OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT IN THE FIRST DEGREE, AND WILL HAVE TO SPEND 11 MONTHS ON PROBATION, AND PAY A $1,300 FINE.

Seven Men Arrested After Alleged Race Incident

SEVEN MEN WERE ARRESTED SATURDAY NIGHT, AFTER LINCOLN CITY POLICE SAY THEY MADE RACIST THREATS, AND NAZI SALUTES TOWARD A BLACK FAMILY ON THE BEACH THAT NIGHT. POLICE WERE FORCED TO FORM A BARRICADE IN FRONT OF THE MEN, SO THE FAMILY COULD LEAVE THE BEACH. OREGON PUBLIC BROADCASTING SAYS THAT ALL OF THE MEN, SAVE FOR THE ONE WHO REFUSED TO IDENTIFY HIMSELF TO POLICE, HAD RUSSIAN OR EASTERN EUROPEAN NAMES.

Grants Pass 'Thumbs Up' Possible Public Safety Levy Increase

THE CITY OF GRANTS PASS, IS NOW PROPOSING AN INCREASE IN THE PUBLIC SAFETY LEVY. THE GRANTS PASS DAILY COURIER SAYS THAT AFTER A THUMBS UP VOTE, THE COUNCIL DECIDED TO PROPOSE RAISING THE RATE TO $1.97 PER $1,000 OF ASSESSED PROPERTY VALUE. THAT WOULD BE AN INCREASE OF 18 CENTS. THE CITY NEEDS TO FIND ABOUT A MILLION DOLLARS IN REDUCED SPENDING OR HIGHER TAXES.

THE EVENT WILL RUN FROM 11AM TO 1PM, AND WILL BE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. THE JACKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO KIDS UP TO 12 YEARS OLD.
